Five Nights at Reis and Irvy's?
I don't play video games, My Lot, but I have heard of one called "Five Nights at Freddy's". The premise of it is that there is a pizza chain that features animatronics - animated robots - that sing, walk, dance.... to bring people in. Well the robotics at this place have gone bonkers - and are now trying to get out and kill people at night. That is where you, the player, come in. The game player - plays as the night watchman who keeps the robots in line. There are many of these games (5 or 6 I think) and they are really popular.
If it interests you - please check out this review of "Five Nights at Freddy's " by Youtuber Markiplier - I promise that it is actually more interesting than it sounds. I am thoroughly entertained and I don't even play games. lol!
Markiplier video on Youtube:
So, "Five Nights..." was the first thing I thought of when I learned of Reis and Irvy's!
What is Reis and Irvy's you ask? It is the first robotic frozen yogurt dispenser.
Roughly the size of a vending machine, the user chooses their yogurt and toppings and the Reis and Irvy's machine whips it up, including a light show and an animation on the ordering screen featuring the titular robots.
Now I had sort of hoped that a full size robots would be in there stirring up and serving the yogurt, but, this is still pretty cool. I wouldn't hesitate to buy froyo (the annoyingly yuppie way of saying frozen yogurt) - out of the machine. I guess we don't need to worry about life size robots copying the robots from the "Five Nights at Freddy's" game.
If I win the lottery, @xander6464 - I'm getting one of these, yknow, to go next to my multi flavored Coke machine. Can you say - float time?
What do you think, are we getting close to robots actually serving us?

No other game has given me a greater feeling of dread than this one. Five Nights at Freddy's is incredibly unique and takes an approach to horror that I've n...

@Mavic123456 Ah yes, what would a robot want? Like you say, virtual money? 3 in 1 oil? Gears? Batteries? lol

A robot gone rogue is one thing we don't like to happen especially if it was built for military use, it's like straight out of a scary cyborg sci-fi film.

@FayeHazel artificial intelligence is now a reality and tech is fast advancing, they could put it on anything even a simple yogurt serving one, I think uncontrolled and independent artificial intelligence could be dangerous.

@louievill Oh yes, artificial intelligence - what do we do if they become self aware, and no longer wish to do menial tasks for us? I agree. Dangerous.

Oh no, good point. It could easily go from yogurt serving robots to the "Terminator" quickly!

@FayeHazel They'd have a credit card slot and if you didn't swipe your card they'd throw soup in your lap!!

@WorDazza Oh yes, I could see that now. Maybe they'd even have a coin slot and dollar bill reader. They'd require pre-tipping before service and your level of service would be determined on how much you tipped lol

I think there are certain things that robots could be even better than humans at, but you're right, it would impact work for a lot of people. Except robot mechanics..... :/

@FayeHazel Those robots would need a large technical team. Perhaps even a team of robots? lol

@DianneN Lol that would be about it, wouldn't it? Just like in the movie "Futureworld" where the robot technicians are robots because they have no ego and "won't make mistakes" lol

I have heard of that game, but never played it. I don't really do video games either. Markiplier is fun to watch though!

I think there are certain roles that robots would be really good at.
