This narrow canal cuts the Peloponnesian Peninsula off from the rest of Greece. In the north is Athens, and the major part of Greece, and in the south, the home of Sparta. The canal was not there when the Apostle Paul was passing through the area preaching. The early part of Greek culture began in the south, then moved north over the centuries. There are important historical sites in the area, including theaters, a very interesting place to visit

It is very narrow, I have seen the canal, it scares me a bit.
