Movie Thoughts: Kidnap (2017)

Tonight my husband and I decided to watch the movie Kidnap since it was on Hulu. Kidnap is a drama/horror that came out in 2017 starring Halle Berry. I was not sure how interesting the movie would be when I read the synopsis, and saw the trailer, but it definitely did hold my interest. I will try not to spoil the movie but..... The movie is about a single Mom named Karla and her son Frankie, who gets kidnapped very early on in the film. Then she goes on chasing Frankie's kidnappers throughout the majority of the film. I won't give away who kidnapped him, or why....but that is just totally messed up! Throughout the movie I kept wondering who took him, and what was their reason. The movie is very relatable too....because kidnapping happens more than it should in the world (even just once is too much). Watching this movie, you have to wonder how would you handle that situation? Would you handle it like this mother did? Would you panic? Anyways, have you seen this movie? What did you think of it?

@MommyOfEli2013 Oh it was such a good movie! I saw it last year sometime I think and same as you, it held my interest all the way through. I'm not sure what I would do. I don't have any children but if any of my family members or friends were taken, I know I would do whatever it took to get them back to safety. And panic lol heck yes. I sure would! I would like to watch it again actually because I have forgotten who took her child.

That is awesome that you enjoyed the movie! And yes, the suspense was so great....kept me wondering! I think it is one of those things that you don't know what you would do until you were in the situation. I'd be scared to take all the risks she did to get him back...but I know I would be so terrified if my son got taken. Hopefully you can watch it again sometime then :) I could tell who it was....but don't want to spoil it for others :) haha

@MommyOfEli2013 I completely understand what you mean. It's very easy to say what we would do now but if that situation actually happened....the complete opposite could happen. Oh I admire you for not saying anything further about the movie. It shows you respect others. So many people give away a movie or book without considering others that wish to find out for themselves.

@VivaLaDani13 Yes, that is very true. I don't think I could do all that this mother did...but if it came down to it, who knows...I might be able to. Awe, well thank you! I wanted to give away more....but know that a lot don't like spoilers. I should put in if they want spoilers to message me haha. But I will always write my reviews like this :)

I saw that one in the theater and loved it. It really makes you aware of the desperate situation facing children and parents alike with so many kidnappings per year. I forget, did the film mention at the end how many children go missing/kidnapped per year?

@MommyOfEli2013 Ah. I think I read through the end of the credits at the theater. One every 40 seconds is way too much.

It was a really good one, and yes it does make you aware of that for sure! I read on the IMDB page for the movie that one child goes missing every 40 seconds! I don't recall them mentioning that in the actual movie though. Maybe it is posted as text at the end, but we didn't keep watching to see.

That's great that you saw it and thought it was better than you expected! I thought it would be good from seeing the previews, but I liked it better than I thought I would too

Saw it a while ago and thought it was a nice movie. Dunno if in the real world we would act the same she did, but trying to do everything in your power to get him back, that's a must. As I said, nice movie. Not great, but still nice .

@MommyOfEli2013 I prefer to never know what I would do. This is this kind of situation when ignorance is a blessing .

Yes, it was a good, nice movie....I don't know if we would act the same way either--but you never know until you are in the situation.

Well I definitely would recommend it :) And I would do what I could for sure, but not sure it would be the same exact things she did....that takes such bravery!
