Remember Happy Days

While I was in Orlando one year I came across this burger joint and it with a 50's car sitting outside. It reminded me of Al's in happy days. Unfortunately McDonalds has replaced all the old burger joints in Australia. They use to be called "Milk Bars" and there were 2 or 3 in every suburb while I was growing up. They were mini Al's with the cushioned cubicles, sold Banana Splits and Milk Shakes in tall Aluminum cups with chocolate flavoring and a scoop of ice-cream.

When our children become old they will probably fondly remember all the MacDonald's they visited as a child. As a parent, I never liked the MacDonald's, but, as a tourist, I must say it's sometimes nice to find a MacDonald's in a foreign country--a convenient place to refresh and use bath.

It sure is Jo, especially those countries where there is only two levels of dining. Street food or expensive hotel restaurants.

It's sad that the big companies are taking over the smaller, local ones...

@CoachME Sea foods are not that cheap anymore in the Philippines. Chicken is even cheaper than good kind of fish. I just do not like to eat chicken because most are 26 years old and fed on feeds and antibiotics.

Fast food chicken was big from memory in the philippines. I also remember seafood was cheap and meat was expensive. The opposite to Sydney :D

I've always wanted to watch that show but at the time it aired I worked the 4 to midnight shift. That sad part is that McDonalds was never as good as those old burger joints.
