Turning Off the Cellphone to Avoid Nuisance Calls

Being kind to other people sometimes lead to abuse. This happened to me when I showed kindness to the caregiver of my elder brother who had been sick for so long. I pitied her because she has three children to care for, and she always chat with me telling how bad her work situation was, saying she might leave soon. So I pleaded her not to leave my sick brother; I even gave her a little money just to thank her for her services. She left anyway, and looked for a replacement. The guy who replaced her knew about my kindness,so he also kept on ringing my cellphone for so many stories about my brother and how the past caregiver treated him so badly. I did not believe him, and told him I can not do anything with my brother's situation since I also have some health issues and my own family to look after. Also, I have no more money to give him as a tip for his services to my brother. I was annoyed by his frequent calls, so I always shut off my cellphone to send him the message that I do not want to talk with him anymore. Do you experience nuisance calls?

I find it strange when people who aren't so close to me call on Facebook Messenger.

I got their numbers because I told them to call me when there's an emergency concerning my brother.

Never tell them about the people who worked for you before, he is getting paid so why do you have to double pay? Everyone has a hard luck story. Yes I keep mine on silent.

They said they were paid so low for their services, so I told them they should ask my brother's wife for additional salary.

@acelawrites I am so sorry how your brother suffered. I have also heard things here about caregivers treating the elder very badly. I can see why you turn your phone off.

Yes and I hate it when they just call. I hope they will have the courtesy of texting first before making a call to check if I am busy or not. Anyway since I did not answer the calls lately, he stopped.

Yes, that's what I told him, just text and not to call always, so I ignored his calls.

but he knew what the salary was when he accepted the position. if he wants an increase, i agree, he should tell his boss, not you. is he stay in or stay out?

It is not my responsibility to find a new caregiver; it is my sister-in-law who should do it.

That's really annoying. Some people getting to our nerve because of their annoyance. Start looking for replacement.

It is my brother's wife who should look for a replacement; or they should tolerate him because it is hard to find one these days.
