The first McDonald franchise was in 1955 in Des Plaines, Illinois. The specialty was barbecue originally but the most popular menu items were hamburgers, cheeseburgers and potato chips.
In the 1960's Jim Deligatti invented the Big Mac with the steel workers of Uniontown,Pennsylvania in mind. One burger just wasn't enough to feel these workers.
At the Banbury Gateway Shopping Park about eighty miles from London is a McDonald's owned by the Crown Estate which is a firm that manages investments for the British crown. So you could say that Queen Elizabeth owns a McDonald's.
I'm not a big McDonald's fan although I enjoy the Fish Filet and I always try to make it there when they have the McRib on the menu.

Many years ago Mc Donald's was my favorite junk food franchise, then it started getting more expensive in my country then I started eating KFC's burgers which aren't the same, but still tasty. I still remember that the Big Mac used to be my favorite one, though there was another one called Big Tasty, it was the biggest hamburger sold by Mc Donald, I did eat it like twice. Yummy.

@celticeagle Oh that is correct, I have heard Wendy's is way cheaper, though I think Wendy's boring, its stablishments aren't that fun as KFC or Mc Donald's are.
