Not the Song I Mean Top Ten: Photograph (#6)

It’s above freezing! And the groundhog didn’t see his shadow! That means spring comes in ten days, when pitchers and catchers report!!! Let’s celebrate with some music. Here’s another song from my list of songs with the same title. You might think of a completely different song than I think of when you see the title. Let’s see if that’s true. #6: Photograph YOU’RE PROBABLY THINKING: Def Leppard I MEAN: Ringo Starr Of course, Ringo’s “Photograph” was a hit, so fine wine people (that’s those of us who are aged ) might do that in reverse: think of Ringo instead of Def Leppard. I’m not a Def Leppard fan at all. “Photograph” is a good example of why. I like the opening guitar riff of this song, and even when the vocals come in....up to the words “passion killer.” After that, blah. Just another hair band sound to me. (That’s not unique in my crazy world, either: all I like of Fleetwood Mac’s song “Gypsy” is the “lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice” and Lindsey Buckingham’s fade-out guitar work. The rest of that song is pointless to me.). I’m sorry the band has had such tragedy in their career, but musically, they do nothing for me. On the other hand, Mr. Starkey is fab. A lot of times he’s an afterthought in the Beatles world (he was the last Beatle inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo act). That’s a shame, because he’s made some really good music in his career. (I recommend Sentimental Journey, although I’m in the minority of people who like that album.) Yeah, he’s done a few bad songs, but who hasn’t (ever endured McCartney’s Wild Life album?). This was a big hit for Ringo, hitting #1 on the pop charts. And, when it comes to these two songs named “Photograph,” I’ll take Ringo’s all day long. Photograph THE ONE YOU’RE PROBABLY THINKING: Written by Steve Clark, Pete Willis, Joe Elliott, Rick Savage, and Mutt Lange Recorded by Def Leppard From Pyromania, 1983 THE ONE I MEAN: Written by Richard Starkey and George Harrison Recorded by Ringo Starr From Ringo, 1973 That’s not something that I’m looking forward to:
Co-written by Richard Starkey and George Harrison, this was the lead single from Ringo's self-titled 1973 album.

You couldn’t possibly think I’d be a fan of the former, could you???? I mean, when did Def Leppard ever record a Hoyt Axton song??

I'm hoping the groundhog is right but I don't put much merit into his predictions. I've always been a huge fan of Ringo. He was my favorite Beatles

It's nice to see Ringo having some great hits! I'll have to listen to Sentimental Journey.
