@Just4him is not got to like hearing Punxsutawney prediction for a early spring, but his cousin General Beauregard of Georgia Lee saw his shadow and predicts six more weeks of winter' In fact all the groundhogs that I know and check are about evenly split in their prediction so it is anybody's guess and favorite groundhog to go with and I would suggest to Valerie to go with the General as according to the records he is right 9% of the time vs 38% for Phil or Sir Walter Wally who also predicts early spring (he gets it right 58% of the time according Wikipedia). Which Groundhog will you go with or what is some of the other groundhog predictions you have heard?

I like the General's prediction. Six weeks more of winter works for me. Thanks for the mention.

I don't know as it has been very mild here along the panhandle with only a handful of mild freezes so far with highs between for the most part between 55 and 67F and about a month where we could expect a frost as the latest frost ever has been in early March. We are suppose to average about 20 freezes in the winter season but this year we have only seen 5 and on the 15 day outlook no freeze in sight. This may mean more intense hurricanes this summer

Alternate headline: "Punxsutawney Phil saves his neck by not seeing his shadow."

This is a nice tradition but they don't seem to be very accurate with their predictions.

@Elizaby I live in Jerusalem so do not worry about what a groundhog predicts there. We have spring around April or May.
