When illness strikes.

Four days and my younger daughter was feverish, experiencing severe headaches including vertigo the other day. But because of her strenuous duty, she couldn't attend to her own ailments. The patients always come first. Call of duty. Last night, as she changed her clothes, preparing for a much needed sleep, she noticed rashes on her chest. Right away, she alerted her colleagues at the OB-GYN Department. Measles could be detrimental to pregnant women. Two of her colleagues are also on the family way. Good thing there is a Grab Service this time and age, and she summoned one to bring her to the ER, She is positive for dengue, and not measles. Thank God, nothing alarming for the OB Dep't. When illness strikes, oh, those little vamps called mosquitoes, the very ones I am ridding my vicinity with, gosh, it could be disconcerting., Liquid therapy on its way. Sigh.

Wishing that she gets well very soon and takes some time to rest instead as work can wait.

Hello, dear friend. How are you? Hope all is well. Thank you very much for that warm wish. The platelets have risen up. Hope tomorrow the Complete Blood Count renders the normal read. My daughter's colleagues have covered up for her. But she has to repay that soon as she's able. Sigh.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Yes, the platelets are going back to normal, thank God. Dengue is a dreaded illness. it is very disconcerting. The doctors, in their white coats, seem so cool when you see them, but sigh, they are probably the most stressed people who get to sleep every 48 hours. Eight hours of sleep for recovery, that does not happen. So really, asking one to cover for you is a great debt. My daughter is tremendously indebted to her colleagues. Thank you, friend, I missed you.

@eileenleyva The results will be good and she must have felt terribly unwell too. So they cover for each other when one is sick. It should not have to be that way but I know it is. We are all well thank you so far. Good luck with the results of the tests.

Yes, dengue is a serious condition but not contagious. Measles is bad for pregnant women.

Oh that is really bad. Dengue can be as bad as measles. I hope that doctors could find ways that the baby would not be affected. The baby might also get the virus since the baby is inside the body and what mom feels he would surely feel it as well. One thing that a pregnant mom should not be is to be sick. It is really hard to avoid them when you are in the medical world and exposed to all kinds of diseases.

I didn't know dengue is contagious. Just the same, every one can't be more cautious.

Yup, dengue is serious. A CBC test is necessary everyday. Just came from the hospital for the test.

My daughter had rashes too but it was from flea bites which she got from the hospital because she was attending to an old lady with flea bites. Hope your daughter gets well from her dengue. I think there are many dengue cases these days.

We parents are worriers, are we not? It is but natural to feel so because we took great care for the physical well-being of our children. Thank you, Sunrise Fan, here's praying your daughter gets well soon, too.

@eileenleyva You're welcome and thanks too, Ms. Eileen. You're right - it's natural for parents to be worried of their children (especially for us because our two daughters are far away from home).
