Brrr. Yesterday it was 70. Today, it's about 24 at the moment, with a single-digit windchill. Welcome to the Ohio Valley. I'll warm up with some hot tea (Earl Grey this morning) and some good music. Here's the next song on my list of favorites with "people" in the title. #9: I'm a People - George Jones Let me start by saying that, quality-wise, there's no way this is better than yesterday's song ("People Are People"). And, truthfully, I don't think either George Jones or Dallas Frazier (who wrote this) ever crowed about this being one of their greatest accomplishments. Yep, this is among one of the Possum's more lighthearted numbers. Still...there's quite a bit of truth behind the humor in this song. A man who thinks he's intellectually superior to a monkey realizes who's got it easier ("a monkey don't have to go downtown, ask for a job, and get turned down") sees the light at the zoo, realizing the monkey's "work" is "hangin' by my tail, waitin' for the dinner bell, puttin' humans on." No, this isn't "He Stopped Loving Her Today" or "Walk Through This World With Me." But it's long been a favorite George Jones song of mine. I'm a People Written by Dallas Frazier Recorded by George Jones From I'm a People, 1966 Diggin' you know who!
George Jones I'm A People Originally released in 1966 on the album I'm A People. This one is from George Jones' Greatest Hits released in 1981, From My Very ...

George Jones? The moniker sounds familiar. Maybe he had something to do with Tammy Wynette?

I understand that most people don't like country music -- I mean George Jones kinda country. There's another country legend coming up later on the countdown, too.....

@dgobucks226 — I’m just joking with you. You’ll know the other icon when he pops up. And seriously, can anyone who likes George Jones AND the Ramones knock what someone else listens to???

@FourWalls One thing about music, it's open to all who want to listen. Some music you gravitate to might be different from mine but the commonality lies in how that music moves us. There is room in the music industry for all personal tastes and even for a crossover in genres. All stuff you already know. Anyway, I meant no disrespect in my response, even with my limited knowledge of Country Music, I know George Jones is an icon who appeals to many listeners!

Its a fun song. That sounds pretty outback, can't say they make them like this anymore. Maybe that is what the world is missing. I am telling you why I hate things that or so polished or what I call corporate.
