If there is one thing we should never do, is to underestimate the loyalty of a Pit Bull named Sadie who is being called a heroine for her role of escaping the home of her owner Serena Costello to alert her neighbors that her owners home was in danger of an explosion due to a gas leak in the basement of her home in Westchester County New York.
When Sadie barked a lot on the streets of her neighborhood, concerned neighbors called the police to report a lost dog, the local police showed up in an attempt to take Sadie to find her family.
Sadie was able to get the authorities to follow her to the home of her owners when the police were able to smell the gas coming from the basement of the home. The police contacted the local fire department.
Officials with Con Edison and the Eastchester Fire Department arrived in time since Serena and her four year old daughter were not at home at the time of the incident.
Had Sadie not alerted the authorities to report the gas leak, a tragic event could have happened in New York.

I remember seeing a small booklet at a supermarket titled "Dogs are not born mean."

Dogs are very smart animals even though Pit Bulls get a bad rap from the news media.

That is true since Sadie managed to find help before the house would blow up with her owners inside.

I love doing true dog rescue stories myself since I do remember seeing Lassie on television a long time ago.
