Saw my dad tonight....( some good improvement )

Long story short.... The doctors were almost going to cut my dad's tendons in his foot because they looked like they were drying out which would have caused more issues. My dad was ok with that. All it would have meant was not being able to move his toes so he was ok with that!
BUT!!!! A nurse ( I believe she was from Wound Care ) has told doctors to not cut anything for his tendons look like they are repairing themselves. My dad and all of us ( family & friends ) are feeling happy with this news and the best we can do is hope his foot continues to improve.
I just wanted to quickly update you guys with this. I know I keep saying this to people but thank you so much for all your support and care during this time. I know this could have been a lot worse but it's not easy to watch a loved one go through this. And like I've said, I often worried about losing another parent since I lost my mum at a young age of 16.
Only thing I am worried about is his blood readings / sugar readings. For some reason they keep going normal to too high. So I don't know what that's about.
After I saw dad, I went to my Nan and Pop's house for a birthday dinner. Which I will do another post on after this.

Thank you for the update on your dad. I hope he continues to improve and heal with each passing day. Do you know how much longer he will be in the hospital?
You are a wonderful daughter to not only care so much about your dad, but to continue checking on him while he is at the hospital. I'm sure your visits mean a lot to him Showing love and support can help keep his spirits high and help him heal faster.
I wish I could have been there to help you celebrate your birthday!

@VivaLaDani13 With your dad missing so much work, is your family okay financially? I worry about things like that.

@moffittjc And thank you for reading.
I'm not too sure how long he will stay. They told him he probably won't get to work again for about 6-8 weeks but still a chance he could come home before that time.
Aw thank you so much! My dad and I have a close relationship. Like most families, we have had some rough times but a lot of it brought us closer together.
I wish you could have too! Would have been awesome.

@moffittjc We are fine as far as I know. Unfortunately my dad will be dipping into his savings eventually so even though he doesn't know this, I've been deliberately not watching TV ( except for 2 movies ) since he has been in hospital. And having very quick showers. Or making sure switches are off when the item isn't in use. I don't know how much of a difference it makes but even if it's a little, it would help.
But it's really hard with my brother. I don't know if it's because of his disability ( I still don't know what the name of it is ) but it's just where ( from what I've been told ) his mental age is younger than his physical age. It's nothing too serious like he works, drives and what not. But sometimes he stutters or he does things that don't make sense OR maybe he is just naturally lazy. I can't figure it out. But we have to constantly remind him of such tiny details and he follows it for like a week then goes back to doing it again. It is very very draining when this has been going on for as long as I can remember. It's a very long list of small things he does but in regards to the current situation, he doesn't clean the house properly therefore I have to redo what he has done or take over completely. I've been "in-charge" of shopping lists because he doesn't know what to get or gets the wrong things. And yet some of my family members still don't understand why I'm so tired lol Of course a lot of it is my depression ( which they still don't get even though they claim they have been through depression ).They lecture me so much on things they assume I'm not doing instead of asking me what I am possibly doing. And it's actually why I am taking photos of what I'm doing around the house right now. Because if my Nan or Aunty questions me or lectures me on what I'm not doing to help the house / help dad, I will be ready with photographic evidence.
My brother and I pay rent every fortnight so we go shopping with that money if we need anything. So far it's all been fine. Not in dire straits or anything and hopefully won't be.
And so sorry I rambled there. I didn't realise I needed to vent lol

@VivaLaDani13 I suspect your dad is of a similar vintage to me so hopefully you won't have to look after him in that way for quite some time.
It's understandable that you have found this tough. No matter how old we get we think of our parents as being strong and indestructable and something like this can be the first time we realise they are just as vulnerable as the rest of us.
Hopefully this has made your dad realise just how much he means to you and spurs him on to not be so stubborn about his own health care.

@WorDazza That's another thing I often stress about. But someone helped me with that and said I have a long time til I need to look after him in that way. But yeah just this alone has been a tough one for sure.
And thank you.

@LadyDuck According from what I've heard, it could be due to the stress my dad is experiencing. A nurse has suggested that but can't tell for sure. He has been on a strict diabetic diet so it's a weird one trying to figure out. I didn't realise how difficult diabetes could be. People seem to have a lot of tests and trials trying to get the balance right on what works for them and their diabetes.
