Youtube Superstar Gift Opening Videos

I watch a lot of Youtubes, probably more than I watch TV, and I have my favourite sites, political satire, music, film and book critique sites, atheism, and sites on creative writing tips as well as anything funny. A growing recent trend is for the most popular professional Youtube creator-presenters to break away from their usual output to present a film in which they open thank you gifts sent by their adoring fans. This amounts to a 10-15 minute film of someone opening boxes, before reacting to the quality of the gifts offered. Many presents are remarkably generous and expensive . Some film makers get gifts I couldn’t afford to buy even for my Mum or more immediate friends. As much as I love some Youtube makers, I feel no urge to send them gifts in the mail, or how to figure out the right addresses to mail stuff out to. (some film makers publicize their post office box addresses). Some of the gifts the film makers do get are surprisingly expensive. One Youtuber I watched just this morning collects customized car license plates and some fans send her them. That can’t be cheap. Sometimes the gifts can get creepy and even stalkerish. A few attractive ladies making Youtubes receive gifts of lingerie and underwear. In the Youtube enclosed, the delightful Jacklyn Glenn receives unwashed second hand underwear. Sometimes the gifts can be negative ones, including rotten food. One film maker received meat so rancid it had maggots in it. In cheerfully, perhaps even greedily receiving gifts from strangers, Youtubers are exposing themselves to the danger of receiving something dangerous or even intentionally booby trapped. While it is nice that the film makers get liked enough to attract such lavish gifts, the box opening videos tend to be quite tedious and even self-indulgent. The public display of the opening itself encourages other fans to outdo the ones who sent the last batch opened. It is a matter of time before Youtubers receive their own cars and houses. When I like a Youtube I press the like and subscribe buttons or add cheery comments,. I don’t feel compelled to send the Youtubers gold, jewellery or tickets to the opera. I find it odd that anyone does. Maybe I’m jealous. Arthur Chappell
People send me some really nice/cute things and some seriously disturbing things... Watch the unboxing here!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMW_m0QWV3k&fea...

@Mavic123456 not bad if the contents are worth what you pay for them, but I prefer to know what I'm getting up front

I watch several videos, sometimes I like and subscribe, many times I just watch and move on. I cannot understand how people feel the need to send gifts to YouTubers, I would never give my address. I think that with all the nuts people around opening gifts from people we do not know could be dangerous.

I do not watch these kind of videos though I watch youtube a lot. Its so creepy or should i say nasty to send such gifts. Maybe as you say they are too greedy to readily accept gifts from strangers exposing themselves to unseen dangers.

@arthurchappell Thanks Arthur for sharing that. I guess they have the money to give gifts. My money is very important to me and my cat that I would not do that and also would not give my address on youtube.

I find it odd too and can't see why people do but I guess to each their own. Do they say who the gifts are from when they are opening them?
