Would you like to come on a short break with us? Tomorrow we’ll be hooking up the caravan and heading to Walpole, Western Australia, where the big trees grow. We’ll meet up at the caravan park with Vince’ brother and his wife, plus their daughter and her husband. The latter couple are visiting from England and every time they come ‘home’ they like to go camping. Walpole is a favourite destination.
It is a place of the giant karri and tingle trees not to mention vineyards and orchards. Unfortunately we can only stay there two nights. We’ll come home on Thursday then leave on Friday to go to Perth to stay with our friend. Friday night we’re seeing a play which involves another nephew-in-law and his choir, Satuday night we goint to a free concert which will feature Cat Empire and Sunday night we’re attending a military concert. On Monday we’ll come home ready for some extended naps.
The photo is of the Gloucester Tree near Manjimup. You can see the spikes pushed into the tree as steps. At the top of the tree is a wooden cabin. In summer someone who sit in the cabin and watch for fires.

That's a might big tree there! Reminds me of the giant redwoods that grow in the Pacific northwest region of the US. I hope those spikes pushed into the tree don't harm it in any way.
Are visitors/general population allowed to climb those giant trees, or are they protected trees? I would love to be the one who climbs to the top and sits in the cabin watching for fires!

@JudyEv I would love to climb that tree! One of my favorite things to do as a child was to climb trees...any and every tree I could find. I was lucky I never fell out and broke any bones!

You seem to have a busy schedule lately.I think only the person who has a head for heights can get to the wooden cabin.

That looks beautiful and the large trees reminds me of the western part of the USA.

@JudyEv I was just looking up Canadian wild fires and I was not surprised to see Trump said the Wild fires in California was caused by Canada.... Our far west does have fires but I always thought it was because there are thousands of acres of nothing but forests.

So is the autumn season approaching in your place? The Tree looks like a big giant. One likes to be at such places for many days but we cannot always keep on staying.

Poor trees! Thinking of the spikes. Ouch.
Hope you have fun.
It sounds like quite an adventure.

The spikes have been there a long time now. The trees aren't used for this purpose now.

It would be one of the tallness in the area. They are slightly shorter than your giant redwoods.
