Regarding Man Buns and Mullets

The "man bun" has been a trendy hairstyle for a couple of years now, mostly for men who are age 30 and younger. I've heard several complaints/criticisms from people my age (mid 50's) and older, about how ridiculous it looks. Hmmm. That's very interesting! To you man bun naysayers, I say: I'll bet your parents/grandparents NEVER criticized your long, shaggy 70's hair or your 80's mullet or mohawk! Personally, I think some man buns look good. My 31 year old son rocks his- but I might be a little biased. Oh, I'll share more on this hairy subject soon!

I think that it is all about the individual. I have seen guys who can really pull it off and others... not so much!!

I recall mentioning the man bun in one of my discussions on gym goers. I was less than complimentary if memory serves. Being aged 15 to 25 throughout the 80s I can proudly say I never sported a mullet or mohawk so I get to be critical of the man bun

I'll have to look up that post! And yes, I respect your opinion and your hair. But perhaps you are not too old, even now, for a green mohawk! Try it and post pics!

@BloggerDi That may take some time and as we're both in our 50s I'm not sure we have enough of that!!

Thanks for your comment @scarlet_woman. I'm not necessarily a big fan of man buns or other really trendy styles- but they usually come and go like the wind.

At least man buns keep long hair neat and tidy. I don't mind them I guess.

That's a good point @JudyEv. I was reminiscing recently about my younger years and the popular bands of the day (which I still enjoy). In the 70's, most of the male musicians had long, unkempt hair and beards, but in the 80's, the trend changed to the shorter, neat styles (except for the mohawks and mullets).

Depends on the person, some can get away with it, others notes much.
