Have you ever had your tarot cards read? I did many years ago. And that's what I thought I was getting when I went to an event on Sunday. It turned out to be a workshop.
We each got to pick our own different deck of cards. Then we meditated. I'm not good at meditating but I think it helped. When I looked at my three cards over and over again I suddenly felt myself get emotional and well up with tears. I was asked to read what my cards meant. Well, I don't have a clue how this stuff works so the "instructor" came over and looked at my cards. The first card hit me hard because it was a woman sitting down, head bent as if crying or depressed, and there was bright angel hovering over her. I immediately thought my dad was watching over me. The second card was a woman looking up into the rays in the sky holding her hands to her heart. I was told she was listening. That I need to listen. And the third card showed a tiny house or village with bright red and orange in the sky which when I looked at it further I thought it looked like a heart. Others saw it but said they also saw a butterfly. I'm still trying to figure out the real message in this reading.
I picked a different deck for the next exercise where we pulled one card face down and put our hand on it and concentrated. What did we feel was the card? I just shrugged and said "Nothing". When I looked at the card I laughed. It was a non-entity. It was a combination of different animal parts - bee, wings, tail, etc. and the slogan at the bottom said, "Love being different". The non-entity was why I couldn't detect anything I guess. But I had just put a sweatshirt in the wash that I wore the day before that said Be (a picture of a bee) Different. How ironic was that?
Then we broke into groups where we were supposed to read each other. I was not comfortable doing that so I watched as my two friends read each other and then each read me with two different decks. What was quite amazing here was both readings told the EXACT same story. I could even read it myself: Stop looking at the world from the inside (or internet), money will come and travel. My bags are packed and I'm ready to travel alone if I must. How crazy is that? It's exactly what I want so to get the same message twice was really weird.
It has taken me a couple of days to process this information, which is why it has taken me so long to write this post.
The concern I went in with is that my husband wants to retire to his hometown... away from our children. And I refuse. That last card in the first reading told me the heart is bigger than the home. But what exactly is it TELLING me? That I should follow my heart (which is my kids and not really my husband) or where I live doesn't matter. I'm stumped on that one.
Anyway, that was my experience. It was interesting and I would probably do it again.
Have you ever experienced tarot card readings?

We were given a list of questions to ask and what not to ask. One that I can remember that you don't ask is "when?" They aren't really about what will happen but what you should do. You are supposed to have a question in your head ahead of time which I struggled with after seeing the limitations, so I just kind of thought generally, like my marriage or money. The one card indicated money to come. But we were all told that you take it all with a grain of salt. Like the horoscopes, they always claim they are for entertainment purposes only. But it's hard not to believe in the validity of what comes out.

One of my friends at the meeting on Sunday did a workshop with me many years ago. The workshop of the day was to do something you desired to do. She used regular playing cards to do a reading. I don't know how you can read anything from playing cards.

No, I haven't and I wouldn't. Not condemning you. I have had "messages" in other ways and God's Spirit speaks to my spirit, I know.
