The same day we arrived to Ciudad de Mexico, we took a cab to El Zócalo. There you have the big square, the Giant Cathedral and the National Palace with one of the biggest murals Painted by Diego de Rivera.
For those of you who saw the movie 'Frida', he was painting that when they met. BTW, the movie is worth watching.
Thanks be given there were elevators. This lady could not have climbed the stairs and looked at the pictures at the same time. Awesome!
Then we went to the Cathedral (built from 1573 to 1813) .
I have traveled a lot and it is incredible how people destroy beauty to do their own thing. This Cathedral (a beauty) took stones of the Aztec temple for its construction.
If you ever go to Ciudad de Mexico, start by this.
See you later. I´ll check my notifications.

I do wish more people went there. For us, Latin American, this is very near our past history at its best.

Those art works are so beautiful; even the architectural work. It would feel like going back in time when you see it (as I can feel if I go there).

It is incredible. I have seen it several times. This time we were for just a gew days so we did not have time to do all we wanted.

Most stones from the old Aztec Temple were used for building the cathedral and some buildings around the zocalo. I didn´t know that until about ten years ago. I´ve seen many murals from Diego Rivera and other painters. Tin many buildings and theaters in Mexico

Everywhere, new cultures dispose of what older cultures had. I have seen the stones at Pisa using old marble with Roman writing. And When I went to Tiahuanaco, in Perú, the church was half built with the stones from the Templo del Sol. I didn´t know about the stones from the Templo Mayor.
