When I was still working in the hospital as a Licensed Physical Therapist, I practiced being an empathic person. It was being taught during my university days that people who are in the medical field should not show sympathy to their patients. For the reason that it will affect their profession as doctors, nurse, etc. Honestly, I am a kind-hearted person. Sometimes I can't conceal my feelings and drawn to be sympathetic to my patients at that time. When I was assigned in convalescent stage patients, I felt bad seeing patients who are dying. I can't do anything but not to give false hope to them.
What more if I am dealing with my family. I chose not to treat my own blood clan. For the reason that I feel not that good in healing their ailments. It is a fact that most medical practitioners don't prefer to treat their family.
"How about you my fellow myLotters?"
"Are you sympathetic or empathetic?"

i think treating your own family can be hard and frustrating.
on the other hand, they also say those in the medical field are the most stubborn patients.

I am empathic with closed people, not everybody. On the other hand, I can be sympathetic with people who I barely know.

I do whatever needs to be done for each person I encounter.
Each situation is unique so my feelings and actions will be different too.

Its hard being on the medical field and not practice such. I think if i were you i would also choose not to treat family members for the same reason
