An Oscar for Olivia

Norwich, England

I was so pleased to see that the gorgeous Olivia Colman won an Oscar this year. I might be a tad prejudiced though as she's from my home county of Norfolk. But surprisingly we have quite a glut of famous people emanating from Norfolk including Horatio Nelson. And we also find that stars tend to be attracted to this backward little area of England ... Martin Shaw (from The Professionals/Judge John Deed) who's a patron of our local animal sanctuary, Steve Coogan and Stephen Fry. Olivia has got me fired up now to write about the history of my county and some the famous people that spent part of their lives here. Watch this space. By the way, I live close about five miles north of Norwich (shown on the map).

Did you watch Olivia Colman in the Broadchurch TV series with David Tennant?

Yes ... think she and David made an excellent team. Shame they're not making any more.

We met up with a friend just a few days ago who spent much of his childhood in Norfolk.

@olliesmum I wrote 'Norwich' but meant 'Norfolk'. I've fixed it now.

I know I'm prejudiced but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

@JudyEv Well you got the right city for the county and, to be honest, I don't know many people across the world who know anything about Norwich or Norfolk. We just one of those quiet little corners of the island whose inhabitants don't shout a lot!!

I've virtually never been to Norfolk, only once to Wells-next-the-sea. Oh and Colman and Norwich has made me think of mustard : )

Wells next the Sea is quite beautiful and, as for Colman's mustard, unfortunately it's been bought out so I'm assuming the Colman family have nothing to do with it. The new company has closed down the factory so, yet another little bit of Norfolk history gone.

@olliesmum You never know, maybe Brexit (if it ever happens) will encourage Britons to start up businesses again if it gets more difficult to obtain things from elsewhere.

@Fleura I have to admit I don't care if we come out with no deal now ... I'm getting thoroughly pee-ed off with the whole thing.
