The Hyderabad based chef in his Facebook post mentioned one incident where a delivery boy skidded his bike and right came under the chef's car. Mr. Roy has shouted at him, 'What is wrong with you? You would have died'. He replied with a lot of pain, 'Sir, sorry, I have to deliver this order before 30 minutes. I got delayed because of traffic, so I was rushing through.'"
Ordering a pizza from the comfort of our home and with a few clicks and phone call is easy. But think about the delivery guy who puts his life at risk just to follow the inhuman company policy. The delivery person risk their life to deliver the order in 30minutes. And if they fail to do so, they might loose grading in their rank. Sure its a luring thing to get a pizza free or at half the tax invoice amount if the delivery fails on time.
Do you think, such delivery policies need to be rewritten? Or are they justified?

The delivery person is under so much pressure. I am glad he did not lose his life.

I never looked at it that way. i guess when I used to order pizzas I never thought of how much pressure the delivery guy has.

That's true. Pizza companies normally map the location where they are comfortable to give service in 30 minutes radius. Though it sounds ethical but there is risk lies in between. If the staff coordination breaks right from the counter to the kitchen, the delivery guy gets the pizza late from the kitchen staff. This will build an unseen pressure on him.

@Hannihar it is better always to tip them because customer cannot change the company policy.

@stapllotik Thanks. Even I don't know whether their staff is insured for such work. But being insured means provoking them to risk their life.

@stapllotik I think it is the basic thing that the company should provide. It is a big no in my country if the companies will not comply with the requirements for their employees.

That's an interesting question.
I see the need for the rule. Elsewise people could easily slack off.
But no one should need to feel like they need to risk their life in order to not get in trouble at work.
The company should pay special mind to their delivery radius and travel times in traffic conditions - not push the delivery people to go too far in the half hour.
I'm happy the man was alright

Well said. Occupational health and safety standards need a deep and mandatory check in every organisation.
