I deleted it last night but I am reposting it today. Well, I am reposting it but differently.
Last night I asked for suggestion on historical fiction. I deleted it because I did not think I'd get a lot of serious responses. I am re-posting it today, but instead of asking for suggestions I am giving them. I asked groups on reddit and have gotten a few suggestions and I am relaying those here. You will have to look up the synopsis to each book.
If you do have your own suggestions for historical fiction please leave them below. I am still open to suggestions, I just did not think this community was the best outfit for this type of question.
Suggestions I have been given off of reddit users:
Author : George Macdonald Fraser Book series: His Flashman fiction.
Author: Kazuo Ishiguro Book: The Remains of the day It's funny as I actually already have this on My TBR and have considered reading it recently.
Author: Tracy Chevalier Book: The Girl With The Pearl Earring
I have been given many other suggestions. I may make another discussion at a later time on this subject. Any historical fiction recommendations you have would be much appreciated.
Have you read any of these?

I've read The Girl With the Pearl Earring, and found it very interesting.
I'd recommend Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
Angela's Ashes,'Tis and Teacher Man by Frank McCourt
The West Coasters by David Corcoran
to name just a few.

You aren't the only one that's talked about Angela's Ashes today.
Memoirs of a Geisha has come up on my searches as well. It was turned into a movie a few years ago, right? I'm not sure if I ever watched the movie.

I am not sure if I ever watched the movie. Since I don't remember, chances are I'll just read the book.

From my 2018 book list:
Varina by Charles Frazier (fictionalized bio about Jefferson Davis's wife)
America's First Daughter by Stephanie Dray (fictionalized bio about Thomas Jefferson's daughter)
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society by Annie Barrows (WWII)
My Dear Hamilton by Stephanie Dray (fictionalized bio about Elizabeth Hamilton--Alexander Hamilton's wife)
From my all-time best list:
Code Named Verity by Elizabeth E. Wein (Young Adult WWII)
11-22-65 by Stephen King (events surrounding the Kennedy Assassination)
From your list, we started listening to His Flashman on a family trip once but ended up dropping it because it was NOT family friendly
.
I've seen the Girl with the Pearl Earring movie--it was very good. But have not read the book
The Remains of the Day has been on my to read list for forever. Someday...

I found The Remains of The Day at Mckay's once and grabbed it up.
I'm going to read all the synopsis of all of these books and decide which ones I'd probabli like best. Just by a glance, Varina , America's First Daughter and My Dear Hamilton are a few I'd probably enjoy.
I've got a goodreads account but I've just signed up for LibraryThing, I'm hoping to get as many recommendations as possible. I have a bookshef to fill.
