Not in the mood for things these days... could it be depression?

Lately, whenever I want or need to do something I just can't bring myself to do it. No desire for it. Not in the mood. My heart is just not in it... etc. And I hate that. Either I won't do it at all, or I will do it eventually but a lot of time will pass before I get it done.
The only thing I seem to do on a regular basis and without delay is wash dishes. Go figure... If I am this way with washing dishes I should be this way with all the other things.
I don't like being in this state. I have no idea why it's happening to me. And I don't know what to do to get out of it.
I wonder, is this a sign of depression creeping up on me? I sure don't want that on my plate.

It is something I have been feeling with old age.

If it's to do with old age I don't fit into that category as I am only 36.

Life for me is slow... maybe that's part of the problem. I am stuck in the same place I've been in for years.

It's one thing when it's just one of those days. But when it's happening for a while it's different.

It certainly could be. How long have you been feeling this way? Everybody gets the blues sometimes, but if you don't come out of it, it could be depression. It's not an uncommon thing. If you feel like you need help, don't be afraid to ask for it.

@lovebuglena It's a good thing to be afraid of. I always worried that I would try and not succeed, just mess myself up, but still be here. The one thing that stopped me was that saying that it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Before I'd tighten my finger on the trigger I would think, "Once I do this, I can't take it back, I will wait just one more day." The day finally came that I did not think about doing it.

It certainly didn't happen yesterday. Been like this for some time. Can't say how long exactly. It comes and goes. There are days I am fine and days I am not.

@norcal Sometimes I do wish I wasn't here but I never really do anything about that, meaning I don't try to end it. I am too chicken to ever do it.

I doubt it's the winter blues.

Maybe it's just the current mood, it does not necessarily mean that it's a depression.

I certainly hope not. The last thing I want is to have depression.

@lovebuglena I know, depression is very difficult. I hope it's not. Try to do something you enjoy.

One thing that I learned is to always have a list of things to look forward to!!

That's a good thing. If you don't make plans then there is nothing to look forward to. I have to concerts to look forward to in August but that is too far away.
