Busy with certain software installations

I have had this problem of hotspot connectivity between laptop and mobile internet again. Now, a friend of me has recommended me to download and install certain softwares. I am busy with that, and things are taking much more time than expected. As a result, other works are getting postponed.
I hope things get back to desired state in a day or two.
One can do a few things, in limited way on a mobile using Internet. Yet a laptop and good internet connection is a must for heavy duty long duration work.

@skysnap I had planned to install Windows 10. However as my available system RAM is just 4GB and I don't plan to upgrade RAM, I have got Windows 7 installed, which is better to use than Windows 8 and does not consume as many resources as Win 10.

@skysnap yes at least 8GB is required and Windows 10 has many default Background Processes.

I have a tricky situation. I have loads of free voice calls on my desktop internet connection which I do not use and have a lot of data on my mobile which I cannot use because I do not have an internet connection there Is there anyway I can make use of the situation by using your tactics?

I earlier used to have a dongle connection, but that company was acquired by someone. Since last one and a half year, I have been mainly using mobile hotspot.

@LadyDuck yes the things went fine. Now, a few things are remaining and I am connected to Net through my laptop using Wifi.

@arunima25 I can understand. I had to adjust laptop startup settings (BIOS) and had to take a friend's help.
