Okay, the pastor that was at the local church, that cheated A LOT of people, including me, has been gone since October.
The church is having guest speakers who are students at a Bible College and other evangelists in the area.
The song leader was 87, or 88. She died in January of pneumonia.
Some time last month I became the song leader by default. First I was just picking the hymns.
Bob still does not go with me. He is usually still sleeping.
I get nervous up on the platform, but I can do this. We have a wonderful organist who has been temporary for the last 18 years.
Music is good for me. It is healing to me. It speaks to me, almost better than a preacher.
We have had some excellent fill ins.

Oh that is great that you can get up there on the platform Heather! Yes music is very soothing.
Glad you went.
Happy Sunday.

It is getting easier. I have always been a Choir singer, or group member, never a leader and seldom a soloist. I always preferred the back of the room.

God gives us all spiritual gifts-glad you are using the one He gave you. =)

It is good to have a chance, although I would not have sought it out. I just love to sing hymns.

@GardenGerty The Bible does say we should use the gifts He gave us for His glory. =)

You know, she must not mind much. She was telling me this when she called one night to let me know she would miss the next day. We were having awful weather and her kids did not want her to get out in it.

It is my understanding that they have to completely renovate the parsonage as it is trashed and they are trying to improve the building fund before they seek a permanent pastor. I can understand that need.

I like the "temporary for the last 18 years." When do you suppose they'll make the position permanent?

She probably does not want to be permanent. She has her own church she goes to before she comes to ours. She has the freedom to walk away if she likes. I know she loves music and enjoys the chance to play on a good organ.

That is great you are able to lead the music. I am sure it is a blessing to the congregation.

I hope so. It is really a joy to get to pick the music. I always hope that it is a blessing to others.

It is, it comes from the heart and the mind both. Love it.
