Wires, wires and more wires!

Sometimes, not often, I mildly curse Tom Edison, Ben Franklin and others who made electricity so much a part of our lives and now with the tech age I am cursing more often. Won't get into my modem not working so I don't have TV but I decided to rearrange the 'east wing' of my apartment and all I discovered is that with all the wiring needed for products today a person can go crazy, especially if you can't hide them!! Right now I have wires for: PC tower Modem (3) printer (2) Speakers (3) Chargers for camera, phone(s) (4) TV (2) Additional port USB hub plus memory USBs (7) Desk lamp Battery back up for PC tower Plugged into wall That's 25 wires (my mouse and keyboard are wireless) that I am trying to hide! Any ideas? Suggestions?

At some point everything will go wireless, for power as well as everything else. That time is not yet though.

Get things that communicate via bluetooth or some other kind of wireless communication? At work they gave med an USB-stick-thingy that communicates with the keyboard and the mouse, so there's only wires for the screen. For some smartphones you get fancy, wireless charging I think. Haven't seen it yet charging camera batteries, but you can put everything into the computer to charge so you need only the wire and not the charger. Or you could just get wires in different colours and make it pretty to look at :-) As I don't think wires will be out of use any time soon as long as you want to stay connected.

@GreatMartin Buy nail polish and start covering them :-) You'll never run out of things to do then!

Try to compact them if you are not afraid of ruining them.

Holy Moly that is a lot of wires. I do have a plug for my laptop but most others are hidden behind furniture including my wireless printer.

Interesting dilemma. I have not idea my wires are away and under my PC desk back against the wall and out of sight. Perhaps this can give you an idea.
Cable clutter is one of technology's biggest annoyances. Today we show you how to organize and arrange the cables under your desk.

Thanks but my mistake was 'exposing' the desk--I had everything hidden behind the desk but now they are right out in the open--can't shorten the cables because of the way the electric plugs are set up. I guess I will have to eventually put the desk back the way it was. :O)

Wow, what a list! You are really wired I agree. It would be nice to reduce the number of products requiring wires. You should see my TV area

Thanks but my desk is setup so I can look out both the east and south windows and there is no place to hide all the wires though I might look for that cable box!

@thaotran I don't have a 'desk' per se--it is a dresser drawer--plus I am always redecorating things so no holes in the furniture! :O)

@GreatMartin Bundling your cables together with zip ties/cable ties will also really improve the look. Also if you're adventurous, you can drill a hole in your desk to route all your cables underneath. Make sure to update us when you get all of this sorted out. :)
