Yes, there is a shortage in the east area of Metro Manila. According to my officemates who reside in the area especially in Mandaluyong experience the shortage.
Now, it is clear to me that this past 6 days, the firetruck alarm is not about the fire that is needed to be attended to. It is the ration of water they deliver to the Mandaluyong residents.
It was ridiculous that even our office in Mandaluyong is affected. No water in the rest room sucks!
Manila Water does not have sufficient supply or it is because of the El Nino?
I am thankful that Maynilad is not affected. So in my area gets 24 hours water service.

Is it really because of the El Nino? Why is Maynilad not experiencing it?

@acelawrites I thought I already responded to your question. According to what I have read Maynilad is connected to two dams and the other is not.

@kepweng it is a term used to describe drought. A phenomenon.

I am also wondering why this happened to Manila Water and Maynilad is not so affected by it. I think Manila was not prepared to handle this crisis and they did not expect that the source of water will drop dramatically. In the past years Manila water always managed to survive water crisis in the past and it was Maynilad Water who gets trouble since they have a much bigger service area to serve in the Metropolis. But now it seems that it is the other way around.

Based on the news article I have read, Maynilad is connected to two dams while the other is not. I believe that Maynilad is prepared and has done their homework.

@jobelbojel That two sources should be shared by these two concessionaires. I think that when crisis like these happens competition should not be an issue anymore.

Do you have a way to store water for personal use? Some of us in the states have gallon bottles in basements or sheds for emergencies, such as storms. At least we will have water for the bathrooms. Many also have glass jars inside with drinking water just in case.

It is a pain, a real pain, when there is no water! Do you know when the problem would be over?
