Final exam day in school, drenched in colour

Today my younger son’s exams (6th class) got over. Now holidays are on for him upto next month, his new academic session will start in the month of April. I called him up from office to know about his exam, he told me, ‘exam went good but I am not good, am drenched with colours, on looking in mirror I can’t recognize myself’.
Children were celebrating the Holi festival (festival of colour) in advance on their last exam day. Since holidays are on they can’t celebrate the festival together at school (the festival is on March 21)/ They throw not only colours but eggs as well. (I really wonder how parents allowed them to carry eggs to school).
Anyway, soon reaching home he first took his bath in cold water. (Morning he had his bath in warm water). I am sure his school uniforms are stained, on asking he told me nothing to worry, I will go with summer uniform once the school get reopens for next session.
Do you have such festival in your place?

@hereandthere Thankfully the stain removed completely, as he did things wisely according to the instructions of his elder brother.

From neither England or Spain are there such kind of festivals at least not with eggs being thrown they throw tomatoes instead in a few places though.
Only eggs are chocolate Easter Eggs as you already know but there is a lot of colour here in Spain both in material and fireworks too mainly in Valencia this coming week.
They also make images from one year to the next with lots of colour in them and then burn them in what they call the Mascleta and other.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Drinking and quarreling is another part of festival. But no one wanted to highlight that part.

The only downside to all the beauty of it is the people who drink too much and the unruly loud music and a lot of people pull out the city when its on just to avoid it all.
Eggs don´t smell nice like that I know and all gooey and sticky yuk.

Holi is so much loved by children. I too loved it as a child but now I am not so fond of it. Good that his exams are over. I think your elder one has board examination going on

@Sreekala it is not much celebrated in Bangalore. We don't get holiday on the day. Only few schools give it. My children enjoy it.
