Ronald Regan puppet expresses my feelings on puzzles

Hi MyLot, Do you like puzzles? I used to, as a kid. I had one in particular that I loved. a 300 piece that featured a lovely scene with a girl watching horses. Fast forward 20 some years when I tried another puzzle and discovered - that I no longer like puzzles. Apparently most of my friends enjoy(?!) doing them. But I know there must be others out there like me. To me - it's a frustrating exercise. You can spend half hour, easily on a puzzle and get no matches. When you finally finish the thing, what are you left with? A fragmented version of the cover art. What will you do with it? Glue it? Not a bad idea.... but if you would just buy the print of it - you'd have a nicer looking picture. Take it apart to put it together again? You just spent how many hours or days of your life playing this thing just to take it apart? Well, alright then. I'd rather put together beads, cross stitch, crochet, paint.... but... that's just me. I also do things some people might laugh at, like say, play Eldarya... that's an online choose your own adventure game. What's wrong with that? You ask. Well it's primary fan base is teen age girls. *sigh* But it's fun! And I still like to color, too.... so..... yeah, I do things that other people would consider ridiculous. So seeing as most of my friends are putting together puzzles now.... it made me think of this TV show I saw as a 5 yr. old! It stuck with me all these years. Of course the politics flew right over my head , at 5. But I liked the funny puppet who looked like the president. The Ronald Reagen puppet expresses how I feel about puzzles in this clip. Im not even making a political statement here - just a comment about the "puzzle" that Ronnie is working on and his method of going about solving it. The 80s must have been an awesome decade. Not only did you have The Noid, Alf, "Mork and Mindy", Glam Metal, Men who wore their hair long, Slice soda, - you could have TV shows with puppets that did a parody of the President. lol.

I love puzzles. Yes, they take a long time to do, but it helps the brain keep active and that's a good thing because an active brain is free from Alzheimer's and Dementia. So, I put them together, and look at them for a while, then put them back in the box to put together again at a later date. I'm thinking about taking out the 1000 piece puzzle I got for Christmas a couple of years ago and do it again. It's a good challenging puzzle.

@FayeHazel I tried to find a picture of it, but I couldn't. I'll try again. Hopefully, I find it. I just went through every picture I have and can't find it. So, I took a picture of the box. Now that I have it out, I'll work it again. I've been wanting to anyway.

Ah - I best to find some other form of active mind then. I used to like those fill-in puzzles or those find a word. What's on your 1,000 pc?

@just4him Wow. That is beautiful. Just as I was going to say that it looks like stained glass, I find that is the title of it. Happy puzzling!

I loved puzzles as a kid, and still enjoy doing them here and there. But do need breaks if it starts taking awhile so i dont get too frustrated My grandmother has always loved puzzles, as long as they have dogs or cats. Lol. Shes been doing awhole lot of them since she retired, and them even more since she broke her hip years ago.

Ah that is smart, maybe it's in taking breaks from it. I'm happy your aunt found a way to keep amused while recovering her hip

As a much wiser man than me (I know!! Hard to believe!) once said, it's about the journey not the destination. But if the journey feels like you've been dragged to your destination over broken glass by wild horses and the destination is like a wet weekend in Skegness then what the hell did he know??

Lol! What's hard to believe? The saying? Or the fact that you're a wise man? (oh ouch! Zinger!) Just kidding. Most of the time I agree with that statement - but yeah if the journey isn't somewhere you wanna be.... lol BTW what is Skegness?

I enjoy doing puzzles, but not in Florida. No space and no time.

@FayeHazel It was a weekly show, but like all things it lost its edge. Still, it gave a start to more than a few Brit comics

Used to love Spitting Image. As for puzzles, I have never been a fan, but I have a friend who does them a lot.

@porwest Oh woah, that is way more awesome than I thought, then. As I was rewatching this clip, I thought it was like a one off or something. I will have to see if I can find more of it. Funny, one of my first thoughts was - with all the hubbub going on today - it would be a great show with some of the current political figures rendered as puppets

@FayeHazel Not exactly. It was a series that ran primarily in Britain, but did have runs in the United States of course, ran for about 18 seasons between 1984 and 1996. They did somewhere around 131 episodes. Most of this is from Wikipedia. It was a very funny show, and I think in the U.S. it ran on HBO. There have supposedly been talks with HBO to bring the show back.

As a kid I loved puzzles, I was fast with them so I got bored easily. As an adult I have never wanted to do a puzzle as in putting one together to get a picture but more in crossword puzzles, I was addicted to those for a while, okay 10 years! but I have always did some form of art, sewing, crocheting, painting or inventing new dishes, cooking, so no I am not into puzzles and would only do one with kids to keep them quiet
