We Have a Baby!

April the Giraffe just gave birth.
Yeah, I’m sitting here in a restaurant, eating lunch, watching a giraffe have a calf.
All of the hoopla that surrounded the giraffe, living at the Animal Adventure Park in New York State, two years ago when she had her baby was repeated. They just didn’t start the “April watch” until this week, so we didn’t have to wait weeks and weeks, wondering if she was ever gonna have that baby.
With all the sad news around lately, it isn’t hard to let the miracle of life become a distraction.
I was hoping to start my “eyes” countdown in music, but that’ll keep until tonight.
PS — hope the baby looks like Oliver.

Unfortunately, the video is no longer available and I could not see the giraffe giving birth. Many years ago, in a place on the coast where I worked as a rural teacher, I saw a cow giving birth on the shore of the beach and, relatively recently, I had to help my female dog to give birth because she had difficulties to expel some puppies

A friend of mine has had "baby-watch" going on for a few weeks in anticipation of her new foal. New birth is always exciting.
