What a movie! Taken from a memoir of Gerard Conley's life experience with conversion therapy and family dynamics. He is a gay man now living in NY City with his husband. The story is about what happened to him and his family when he was of college age. How society looked (and still does)upon the gay community. A lot of male pride, selfishness and ignorance.
I think that real love is excepting someone for who they are, not trying to make them into something you think they should be. Society is not always right. Society has a lot of rules that just make it easier to live around other people. Life they said in the movie "Fake it 'til you make it".
36 states still legally allow conversion therapy to be practiced on minors and to date it has affected at least 700,000 LGBTQ Americans. (Movie stats)
Poor Cameron.
I do not believe in God. I respect those that do however. What I do know of God and his teachings makes me believe that if there is such a persona that he would extend a welcome hand to gays. That he would make them welcome under his roof and not condemn them for thinking and feeling differently.
