i miss the sunrise

For a few brief weeks my morning bus journey was accompanied by the orange and pink glows of the rising sun, and I was awed and inspired on a daily basis. The skies here in the Flatlands have a tendency to look spectacular, unfettered as they are by hills and tall buildings. Very photo worthy. Bring your camera if you visit. But that was the interlude between the dark mornings of winter and the light mornings of spring. And now the only rising sun I glimpse is limited to the streak of yellow which diminishes quickly even as I gaze upon it. At least the sky is somewhat blue this morning, not {yet} miserably grey and full of rain. Perhaps I tempt Fate with my foolish blathering. I am outstandingly good at offering her temptation. Today I will be in Lazy Town, sharing my time with students who can't, and who definitely shouldn't. A little basic maths, a little mind-numbing English and a lot of sleep-inducing vocational studies, with a tutor who drip-feeds answers. Sometimes she doesn't even drop-dead, although my subconscious obviously wishes she would {figuratively, not literally} and of course I meant drip-feed. I am so glad that I proofread these things. Instead, she goes straight for the jugular and simply dictates entire paragraphs to individual students. I end up looking like the Bad Guy, because I want them to be independent and do their own work. Fudge it.

It rained all Sunday, but it was the only rainy day of the month of March. I enjoy the sunrise while I have breakfast with my husband. I see the sun from our dining room French door. The wind blew yesterday and this morning it was spectacular.

When in my home I have to look very hard to see either the rising or the setting of the sun. Pesky neighbourhood, getting in my way with their roofs and such!

@Poppylicious What a shame to have pesky neighbourhood in your way. I have to look out the bathroom window for the sunset, it's less common to see the sunset than the sunrise.

I can relate to your sentiment. The feeling is mutual when teaching students.

@Poppylicious I am sure these Filipinos can adjust easily. What country is it? If I may ask...

We have a fair few Filipinos at college. I think they're always horrified, yet somewhat amused, by the behaviour and attitude of their English peers!

I love the play of the sun on the trees I see from my window. My house faces south. The sunrises here are spectacular. I've gone the kilometre to the waterfront to photograph a sunrise.

Beautiful! There's a small collection of wind turbines between My Town and Next Town, and I can sometimes manage to photograph them with the setting sun backdrop, but only from the bus.
