The foot over bridge near my residential area is closed as it is not safe for using. Yesterday, I reached to the bridge for crossing the road I found the bridge was closed. I was shocked because it was extremely difficult to cross the busy road. Then I saw many other people are waiting to cross the road, I joined with them and crossed the road finally by stopping the vehicles. Today I read the same in newspaper the particular bridge is closed for demolishing after hearing the Mumbai foot over bridge collapse a week ago. The busy road may close from midnight (tonight) to 6 am to demolish the bridge. I was really surprised to know that the bridge is already damaged for long time and people are using the same even in the damaged position. I have seen many beggars sitting on bridge, some vendors and a Palm reader too. The authorities decide to close it only after hearing the accident and death in another state. I don’t know why authorities wait for casualties to do their duties in their respective places. What do you think? Image from google

I have been so anti statues. There were railway accidents happening one after another, and these people announced Shivaji statue, and Vallabh Bhai Statue and Ram statue. Bunch of murderers. What is the point in screaming terrorists when life means so little.

Still I do not understand what is the intention of building statues. I heard, only Tamil Nadu state of India, statues are well taken care and all other states, it is just the resting place for birds and they poop on it. What a shame? I think it is a disrespect to those people.

Corruption to the core!!!! These people just do not care. People are paying for their own untimely deaths by paying taxes and voting the menaces into positions.

System needs overhauling Porridge. Most of these were from British era. Back then, the intent to make money and take it away by hook or crook was the norm. After independence we needed to address those issues. We have not done so far.

@Sreekala That is a sort of hush money to stop them from talking to the media so that their failures are not highlighted over and over. When they stop talking, people forget about the incident and move on to other things. People's memory is short-lived which is what politicians take advantage of.

@Daljinder At 70 hardly young. Japan was devastated towards the end of World War II and so was Germany. We received independence soon after. Look where they are look at us. Laziness rules.

Does that mean you have to cross that very busy road every day to go to work and come back again? I know just how that feels I really do and they will have to do something about that pretty soon and I would hope that they do so as you don´t have to put up with something like that. The cars are non stoppable they pip the horn to make you cross over quicker as they are very impatient. However its good that no one got hurt and it happens here also that you cannot find a trafflic lights to cross over more safely.

There is no other way to cross the road. I have to do this every morning. Evening I can get down the opposite side and no need to cross again. It is ridiculous to cross such a busy road, there is merging of three roads in that particular place so heavy traffic in this area. Even I have to bit long for using the over bridge. I prefer to use the same for my safety and avoid crossing road directly.

@Sreekala Its a great pity you cannot take a bus then to avoid such problems. There are still roads like that here and yet they do nothing to correct the problem either. Wishing you safe crossing of the road every morning till they decide to sort it out.

Most of the time these things happen when corrupt government officials and contractors are in cahoots to get a kickback by using substandard materials, hope they don't do more kickbacks on the repair

It is a fact all over the world. They must do things properly as the first priority goes for the safety. But who bothers? Every one run behinds money.

There is no light the road is meant for without traffic signal (for smooth running of vehicles). So you can guess the rush of vehicles. There is zebra crossing but none of the drivers are bothered on the same. We crossed on a group so they don't have any other option, still I heard they just giving horn for getting our attention.

Authorities only do their duties when election comes and after that they forget their duties

Election and recent accident in Mumbia are the two reasons to check this over bridge. There was no sign board on all these days and all of a sudden they closed it and put a sign board too.
