Doh, I Forgot!!

I was supposed to babysit my niece's daughter yesterday, she had a task she needed to take care of. When I got up in the morning my husband said, "Let's go out to breakfast." So, we did. While we were gone, my niece showed up at the house with her daughter. I didn't remember my mistake until I got home. It turned out OK, I called her, and then went down to pick up the baby. Total screw up on my part though. Do you ever forget important things like this?

Yes, sometimes and I always feel so bad when I do. I'm glad it all worked out for you in the end. To think, had the niece been early, or you guys had been late to wake up, it might not have even mattered. Oh well.

True, we just missed each other by a little bit. I had my phone with me, she could have called and it would have saved me a drive. But, it was my fault, and I felt very bad about it.

@norcal Well, I guess she might not have thought to call. I know sometimes my family don't carry their phones. I've called and heard their phone go off in the house. It always irritates me when they forget to carry their phones.

@ScribbledAdNauseum She texted me, but the notification is subtle for texts, and I am not one who constantly checks my phone.

One day, I forgot to go to work. I was on the computer and got involved in stuff there and forgot all about being scheduled to work. Fun times explaining that one. I did quit the job after 15 years. I just got too tired to do it.

@akalinus So, you did admit your mistake. I might have been tempted to say I had an emergency or something.

oops, yes that would be hard to explain. Did you tell the truth or make up a story?

I'm glad that you were able to put things right. I've shown up for a dentist's appointment a day late.

One time I went to the airport a day early! Better than a day late I guess.

Yes, it does. It always makes me feel like a real space case though.
