A pleasant unexpected visit

Recently, a small iguana visited my house, one of my grandchildren, very excited, called me to go to see the iguana that his father had trapped. Then I looked for the camera to capture these images that I share with you. This scaly reptile is native to the tropical areas of Central America, South America and the Caribbean. When I decided to release her, one of my grandchildren became angry because he wanted to stay with her. Has a reptile or other animal ever visited your home?

How do you know that it was a female?

I have not said if this iguana is feminine or masculine, but as you mention it I will tell you, this iguana is feminine because it has certain characteristics that identify it: it does not have a big chin, the male has a big chin as if it were a bag. The spines of the crest of this iguana are small, the spines of the male are elongated. The head of this iguana is stretched forward, the head of the male is flat at the tip or on the snout.

@karibe You used the word 'her' which is used for females. Thanks for the explanation.

@MALUSE Yes, of course, you're right, but I think it's because of the habit that when we speak in Spanish we say iguana, as if it were female, both for the male reptile and for the female reptile. The same happens with turtles. it's fine because it's a female iguana. But thank you very much for the observation that I will have in mind.

Ah, ok, surely they know that and that's why they do not visit you,

Not a lot of animals here, but I've seen quite a few in the stables and at our cabin. Foxes, moose, deer, otters and beaver. I know that there's quite a few badgers living close to my building, but I'm on the seventh floor so they won't visit me. We had one living under the shed at the cabin though, it used to come in the evening and knock at the door if my father made too much noise.

@karibe They're so big, it's better that they stay at a distance

Ah! Very well, with all the variety of inhabitants in sight, it is not necessary that they go to visit you.

" bubuli" or sand lizards are seen in our garden from time to time but our cats are their natural enemy. Toads and frogs make sounds when it newly rains.

In other words, cats do not allow lizards to enter the house even to greet

When I lived in California as a kid we had all sorts of things running around from the reptile world. Alligator lizards and horned toads. I actually had an alligator lizard for a pet for some time until it got loose in the house and freaked my mother out. That was the end of that. Saw MANY iguanas though during my travels to Cancun and Cozumel. Remarkable creatures and fun to look at.

@karibe I am glad you released it. I had bees that came inside our home while my cat and I were on the porch. I did not see them leave but did not find them in our home when went inside.,
