Feeling Ugly

No this is not a post about self pity and no this is not one of those days when girls feel ugly but they actually aren’t. This is me being just literally ugly. Today I had my face warts cauterised/removed by burning and there were heaps of them. It is normal to have scarring in the place of where the warts had been for a week. This is actually the 2nd time I’ve done this procedure. The first one was in my province and now it’s here in Cebu. Now I didn’t really think about the after effects but during my first cautery procedure I had my dad to drive me straight home. Now I don’t. So I ordered my coffee and endured as people stare at my face or avoid to stare at it. Initially to be honest I feel embarrassed but now I’m feeling more comfortable and I actually feel empowered. Just a different sense of empowering of not wearing any make up and not worrying how I look like, how my hair is. Just the resignation that I’m ugly today and there is nothing that I can do about it. And I can be ugly and no one will recognise me after all the scars go away. I don’t know if you guys can understand it but I feel so comfortably ugly and free. Although I’m sure it probably bother other people.

It's good that you are comfortable with the way you look and it will be worth it in the long run.

Today is my 2nd day not showering. I can wet it tomorrow and I hope I see a little bit of change and some scabs falls off by then. The only downside of this process is I cannot go out too much under the sun. Since I can’t sweat and get wet.

@JudyEv I hope so too because I’m really, really excited to see the end result.

It happened to my mom. She had her warts on her neck removed and she rode a jeepney afterwards. People kept staring at her. People can just be so rude sometimes.

My one is on the face and there’s plenty. And the scabs are getting darker now. Good thing my boyfriend is not here to see me like this. I showed him the photo and he was so worried. I think with marks like this it’s really so hard to not stare.

@jiwonnie I feel like a spotted gecko. But I’m starting to look human again.

you had it again? how long was the gap between the 1st and 2nd? i thought the cautery lasted years before you need to have them again.

That’s what I thought too. I think the first one wasn’t done well. Because I just wanted a medical facial and they said I have many warts some probably very new too. I thought yearly was good enough I think the gap was just 5-6 months for my one.

@hereandthere I guess the first one wasn’t well done then. It’s annoying as the cocoon period is quite long. I wouldn’t dare have mine causterised before a flight. I don’t want to end up detained and mistaken as contagious

It's good you're in Cebu because, anyway, people don't know you so you won't be embarassed :)

I was actually in Cebu only for a day. I had to go back to Bohol after the procedure. So I was ugly at the port but after that I hid at home.
