Nice to meet you...over the phone

Okay so heres the scenario, you call a company or office and you want to purchase or browse something. After some conversation, you end up introducing to each other.. Then for some reason, some one said "nice to meet you" But the thing is, they were talking over the phone and didn't actually meet. I wonder if that's a thing or has it every happened to you in a call?

I get calls daily because of my work but talking for business to business. I hear people say nice meeting you. Or they simply want to say, nice talking to you.

I do not talk to anyone on the phone except my kids.The rest can take a hike

I don't know if it's a "thing", but I guess it's technically more like "good chatting with you" or something like that. It's not something I'd say but language does keep changing I guess.
