Another Girl on the Way!!!!!

Hello everyone, I have some exciting news. My bonus daughter (I'll call her C) has another baby on the way. She and her husband found out on Thursday (which also happened to be their first-born's 4th birthday) that baby 3 is to be a girl. We face timed with them yesterday when they did a gender reveal. They had some people come round to their place but we live too far away so they agreed to call us so we could join in. I was so happy to be included in such a special moment. Gender reveal wasn't really a thing when I had my children but these youngsters seem to like it! Well, anyway, it was also an opportunity to spend time with my future in-laws. We (me, my other half, and youngest son) got together at the in-laws' home, joined by my future sister-in-law. C was joined by her mum and sister (my other bonus daughter) and some other family who live near to them. It was nice that the technology exists so that people in completely different places can join in an event like that! My partner was happy, of course, to be having another granddaughter although he had said it would be nice to have a grandson. That's just because he's feeling outnumbered, I think! Between us, we have 2 sons, 2 daughters; 3 nieces, 3 nephews; 3 sisters, 3 brothers-in-law but we have 2 granddaughters and no grandsons. Personally, I was hoping for a dinosaur! C did say it's not a dinosaur but another unicorn, and she's going to need stables :D Baby 3 is due in August so will be 2 months old at my wedding. I am very excited about it all. We don't see the girls (daughters/granddaughters) very often so I am actually looking forward to spending time with them more than I am excited for my wedding! I also have a few other things coming up. Hopefully, I'll be taking my other half on a short break for his birthday. Then, I have a plan to meet up with a friend for a day while she is at her parents' caravan. After that, I'll be going on holiday with my two sons. We're going to Spain, which is quite exciting as it's my first time to another country. It's also my youngest son's first time abroad, and it's the first time for the two boys on a plane (I went on one once but that was to skydive. I've never flown to somewhere). A couple of months after that is my wedding. I have a 'good things jar', which I did last year. The idea is to write down something good that happened in the week and then open up on the last day of the year to see the 52 good things that you've done. Well, last year's jar had more than that in it. This year's is doing alright but, I think, there are weeks when I don't seem to have put anything in. That's OK, though, because there are weeks when I've had multiple things to put into it. So, by the end of this year, I'll have loads of things to remind me what a fantastic year I've had. Looking forward to so much and, of course, there will be anything else in between, including any extra time I get to spend with my adult children and the shows/events my youngest is in. So, people, how has the first quarter of your year been? Any exciting news? Anything fun or interesting coming up? EDIT: I forgot to ask before but I wonder, what has technology done for you? We often have negative things to say about it but the advent of such things as video calling has meant I'm able to see my children and grandchildren when I call them, and has helped to bond with the people who are far away.

That 'good things jar' sounds like a wonderful idea - I might adopt it myself (though this year has been very bad for me so far) Congratulations on your up-coming wedding and all the other good things. Your mom ok?

Thank you. Mother is OK. Her same grumpy self as always! I shall let her know you asked after her. I stole the good things jar idea! You realise that, even when there are horrible things going on, there's always something positive. I kind of started with turning negatives into positives, finding the good things even where stuff did not seem good. Gradually, it worked that I'm now not having to do that because I'm seeing all the truly positive things. I think that makes sense :)

@jaboUK sorry for your loss. I understand that losing someone would make it difficult to stay positive. I hope that you have plenty of good memories to dwell, of course.

@pumpkinjam Thanks - I do have an abundance of memories. He was 88 and it was his time to go, but that doesn't lessen the pain.

I didn't know that I was having a boy until the day he was born. In some ways it would be nice to know in advance.

I never found out with mine beforehand either. I didn't really want to. I kept being told I was having girls with both of my boys!

@Tampa_girl7 well, I've never been a great fan of anything girly. My kids were getting blue and purple stuff, regardless!

It is very exciting. I'm particularly excited about this one because, although we met number 1 when she was just a few weeks old, things were, well, not as good as they could have been so we didn't get much bonding time. Then with number 2, she was 9 months old before we met her. We will get to meet number 3 when she is 2 months old, and the relationship/family dynamic has much improved - that's why it was particularly special that C and her husband had wanted us to be part of the gender reveal, and even asked me to arrange things our end so we could do it.

Thank you. As you may be able to tell, I am VERY excited about it all! My in-laws asked if I was going to have more children with my partner (we have 4 between us but none together). As it happens, the chances of it happening are slim to none but, I think, four children is enough, especially when we also have grandchildren. As my parents and in-laws have all said, it gets expensive at Christmas!

@LindaOHio I certainly am. :) The only thing that could be better is to be able to spend more time with them all. With the girls 200 miles away in one direction, and my eldest son 120 miles away in the opposite direction, and all with their own lives, of course, it can get a little tricky!!!

Thank you. Our children are mostly grown - 3 of them adults, the youngest is 13. It is nice that we now get to have grandchildren (even though I'm far too young to be a grandparent! :D :D )

I've always had Android and thought they were easy to use! Never used an iPhone - I could never justify the cost of one but friends who have had them have not usually recommended them! I use the Facebook video call thing on it. I have no idea how to use much else on any device! :D
