It's a good thing i wasn't in a hurry

I got my hair cut today, finally and I'm hoping my daughter will take a few pictures for me which I may post later. I went back to a spike which I used to do all the time but I didn't think my head and hair would support an overall spike. My hair used to be quite thin but my hairdresser says it's somewhat thick. I don't know whether it's changed with age or if certain cuts will still not work. But, I normally get the spike cut just on top of my head and not on the sides or back. I told her if I'm unable to get it right she could do it for me every morning. Can you imagine that? I'm joking of course. Once I got in my car I texted my employee to let him know I'd be home soon to take him to clean one more window job for the week. Then, when I tried to leave the driveway was blocked by a large van/bus for one of the assisted living places here. It didn't looking like the driver was in it. I figured if they didn't return soon that I would call the hair salon and ask if they knew what was going on, but within minutes the driver came outside with a lady that got her hair done too. It was a process, walking her with her walker to the bus and helping her up the stairs. I put my car in park to wait until they were done and the bus was moved as there wasn't enough room for me to get between that and the yard cleanup crew. Today was supposed to be on the mid fifties but I heard it is in the mid sixties instead. It's lovely out here today. I didn't go to my moms last night like I planned as I took a nap instead. I did go before lunch today. Mom wafd to add ones mostly napping but each time someone walked by she'd open her eyes and begin talking. I don't know whether she heard them moving about or what because even if she weren't napping she can barely see.

Looks nice, the haircut. Your mother must have heard people moving. Is she clear in her thoughts? My mother is clear in some but seems confused in others.

She can't share her thought very well, I doubt if she's very clear in them since she's had dementia for almost ten years already. She does sometimes get either words or phrases or complete sentences out, but many times she repeats one word or strings words together that make no sense at all. I'm guessing she either heard them move, or possibly the shadow of their movements caught her attention from behind her closed eyelids.

I didn't realize that your mom also has some similar symptoms. Does she still live at home?

I think I recall photos where it was spiked. It was nice weather here today as well but not quite as nice as your weather. It started raining of course as I was loading up the groceries in the car. Never fails it rains when I need groceries.

For most people it never fails to rain once they've washed their cars, lol.

@shaggin that may sound awful to some but I don't wash mine either. With the ladders on top I can't go through car washes and when the weather is decent enough we're washing windows.

I'm happy with it. It's not a comb and go style though, and I have to remember to give myself time to get it right before leaving the house. We got a wintry mix in the night and it looks like a light layer of ice and a dusting of snow. It may still be sleeting out there although the temps are almost forty F which is 4.44 C. It shouldn't last but in the mean time I hope to get some salt down between the house and cars so we don't fall, just in case it is that slick out there.

@arthurchappell Probably not. We got a bit more this morning, but maybe that's it or maybe not.

Think of all the money you're saving not needing a cut every month or so. Does Mike shave your head for you?

I guess having a short hair cut makes it easier to manage. You have had a busy day!

@MarshaMusselman Right so at least you know the drill for your knee so hopefully it will cause no complications and you will soon be back to ballet again!

I totally dislike it when my hair get too long. For one thing I don't want to take too long each day making it do what it doesn't want to do. I feel I look better with it short even though my ears are too large to hide under any hair, lol. Some days I'm pretty busy and other days I watch an old series on netflix or play my games online or spend time here. Soon, though, I will be taking my crew out to do work almost every day and then not as many breaks for me unless it rains or snows. And, also only until June when I will be off work again for my knee replacement.

In situations like that, you can only wait. Patience comes in handy in those times. It sounds like your mom is failing. I'm sorry.

No, I don't think my mom was any worse. She sleeps a lot during the day mostly because she can't see much. I'm usually there for a meal so she tends to be awake for those. I may have gone just when she began napping, I don't know

@just4him She could easily live another ten years, or she could go anytime. I've no idea what all it depends on anymore since she's not taking all the meds that she used to take and she seems fine. She does take some meds, but I've no idea what ones.

I think to remember your photo on Bubblews where you had a spike cut. Sometimes it happens to have to wait when disabled people need to get on a van or a car.

@MarshaMusselman Two days ago we waited 5 minutes because of the big garbage truck in front of us. They were collecting garden waste.

Or waiting for a bus to let school age children off or on before or after school too. I was surprised that this particular bus stopped right at the entrance to the driveway because when I left the building I didn't realize that someone inside was waiting for that ride. Had I noticed that a bit earlier it would have made more sense. Yesterday when we were there cleaning windows the same bus pulled right into the driveway to pick up her passenger, but maybe it was a different driver and maybe the driver realized there wasn't enough space in the back parking area for turning around to leave again. Whatever the reason, I was fine waiting. I just didn't know where the driver had gone to right away. There are several businesses in that area.

I need to go and get my hair cut as it is overdue. I have short hair and try to go at least every 6 weeks if I can.

@MarshaMusselman I did the same thing this winter. I was looking pretty ragged by the time I went last month.

I go fairly often in the summer and warmer months, but not as often in the winter as funds are slimmer. This year was going to be my first that I kept it short through the winter but with the icy conditions we had and longer I opted to stay around home more instead.
