Politicians can be Polluters

It is the start of campaign period for local politicians for the May 13 local and national elections in our country, and everywhere there are lots of tarpaulins trying to win the attention of voters. It is everywhere; at the lamp posts, street sign posts, any vacant space along the roads and it made the city look so ugly with lots of litter and clutter. They spend so much on those plastic posters which later on will add to garbage problem; or those plastic materials ending in our seas. It is so rare that any politician or their followers will be responsible enough to collect those tarpaulins and dispose it well.

Really? It's the start of campaign period? I thought it started long time ago because I had been seeing these campaign posters for LOCAL elections for quite some time now. Hihihihi Yes, they are polluters. =)

There are so many violators; at least the Commission on Elections tore down the illegal posters yesterday' but there are so many others left.

@acelawrites Ohh... Somebody told my mother yesterday that one candidate distributed money early in the morning. Whoa...

Yes I know what you are speaking of. It really is so unnecessary too.

It becomes an eyesore; it is good if they would be responsible enough to remove it after the elections.

@TiarasOceanView I agree with you; many of them are after the money; very few run for genuine public service!

OH that is very true. During the campaign period up to election time their paraphernalias will be visible around and they all will be left in that place unless someone will take action of cleaning them up.

@acelawrites I doubt if one will do that. It usually is mmda who does that after election.

They should be responsible to take it down after the elections to clean the mess.

someone asked if they could attach their tarpaulin to our fence. it was not that big and they placed it in a spot that doesn't block our view so i agreed. they also promised to take it down after the elections. we'll see!

@acelawrites not really. just "pakikisama" and just one small tarpaulin. problem is someone added a bigger one without telling any of us. mother got mad and had both taken down.

So you also root for their candidate that's why you allowed them to put it at your fence?

I am glad that they take those tarpaulins down immediately after the elections here.

It is a different thing here, they do not remove it even after the elections; such an eyesore.

I'm sure it's a huge eyesore and it does create pollution. In the US things are taken down very quickly after elections.

It is a different scenario here, they let the tarps hanging there for so long even after the elections!

I think to be a politician you have to grease a lot of palms to rise up. I don't think they care about the environment over their need to be seen and voted for

It's what most people think; politics can be such a dirty one.

It really does make everything look littered when an election is coming up. You'd think the candidates would pay someone to take the signs down or do it themselves, but sadly I think the city workers have to gather a lot of them.

It is their responsibility to clean up such "mess," but it never or it rarely happens when a candidate, more so a losing one, would do it.

Yes it is the same here, not too many people remove the signs when the election is over.

They really should come up with a better way. I'm appalled at what I'm seeing... they should set an example!
