The place for sudden inspiration!

This photo was taken a few months ago - on a frosty morning - and shows a spot on my usual dog-walk route where I seem to get bright ideas for no apparent reason! My wife and I are currently doing a charity quiz - a sheet of questions that you answer and then send in hoping to win a small prize. The quiz consists of 50 questions to which all the answers relate in some way to fruits or vegetables. By the weekend we had done all but two, but these were tricky ones that seemed to have us beaten. However, yesterday I suddenly thought of the answer to one of them - while accompanying the dog at almost exactly the place from which I took this photo. This morning - at the same place to within a yard or two - I thought of the other answer! Whenever I have an awkward puzzle to solve in future I shall make a point of walking this route and fully expect to get the answer! The questions? The first one was "Bird plus vegetable equals vegetable (8 letters)" and the second one was "Sounds like you regret the point (7 letters)" If you want to make a trip to Leicestershire to visit the same magic place, you are welcome to do so!

What beautiful countryside! You are lucky to have such a spot. Clearly, a friendly and learned ghost inhabits that spot and is happy to supply you with answers when passing the time of day. I wonder whether it is one of those strange locations where one sees columns of midges dancing on warm, still summer evenings. I would have answered 'Asparagus' to the first ('sparrowgrass' being a good old country name for it), but I'm probably wrong. The second has to be Rhubarb, of course ('rue barb').

You are right with one but wrong with the other! Yes - I have seen midges dancing there, which no doubt has something to do with the pond that is hidden from view by that big tree and the stream that runs down underneath the hedge.

This is close to the village of Barlestone in Leicestershire where I live. If I turn my head as I write this I can see one edge of the field in the mid-distance. My regular morning walk takes about 50 minutes and includes walking to the top of the large field and back through the narrow field to the right of the hedge.

It's a beautiful place! You can really get a lot of inspiration there, you can even start writing a blog or article or even ebook. Is your charity quiz online?
