As you know if you saw my other post, I saw the doctor yesterday and had my blood work checked. They did a check of almost everything (rather than just a1c and kidneys). I got the results today when I saw my nutritionist. My a1c is down from 6.7 to 6.5 - I am just glad it went down rather than up! I am at least moving in the right direction. Sharing some of my old numbers, to just show how low carb has helped me. My worst a1c was back in 2015 at 11.8 (an average of 292). An A1c of 6.5 is an average of 140...still not great, but much better than 292! A year later it went down to 7.8....then back up to 8.7. Last July I got it down to the lowest (6.1) since my diagnosis in 2010. Now, I am working to get it under 6% by the time I go back to the doctor in 6 months. My doctor and nutritionist are pleased with 6.5% but I know I can do better. Onto the other numbers.... My cholesterol is in the normal range, my triglycerides are pretty good. Bad LDL is a little high...and good HDL is a little low. Nothing of concern right now, and with my triglycerides being good I am not worried. - Also, looking back on the results from the past years....these numbers are improved since doing low carb. My kidney function is getting better, I guess last check the numbers were way too high....now they are much improved, and just a little above where they should be. Anyways....that is all I have on that for now. What do you all think? Do you get your numbers checked regularly? Photo via Pixabay

You only have trouble with blood pressure, or only get that checked? My blood pressure is actually fine!

Yes, it is good for regular checks on blood work, especially if you have any conditions. I am due to get myself in and get all the checkups done and tests done that I have due. .

Good you are checking your health condition. It is important to take care of one's physical self. As the saying goes - Health is wealth, I think I will follow your example and get to the lab soon as I can. Thanks for posting, this is a good reminder.

@MommyOfEli2013 A very relevant post this is. Diabetes, like cancer, has become a multi-billion strategy for pharmaceuticals to prosper. That is why we are fed junk food and cola and all kinds of energy drinks for thirst quenchers. We have to get sick and avail of the treatment. I am a victim, too. There was power shortage in 1991. We were forced to drink coke for meals.Diabetes is big business here, too. In the recent years, dialysis centers mushroomed in the metropolis. Kidney ailment is a complication of diabetes, Keep posting helpful ideas from your experiences. Helps us, too.

@eileenleyva Well thank you....I share about it to keep accountable and to help others if I can. Yes...the pharmacies and all of them want us to stay sick so they keep making money so they prescribe pills and recommend a diet that doesn't help. I am sorry that you are a victim too. I think it is a pretty big issue in most places....so not surprised. Definitely not good! And thank you...I will!

Measures average blood sugars over the last 3 months....usually is checked to tell if someone is diabetic or not.

I get mine checked next month. I have been on diabetic diet ( low carb) since I found out in 2007 Mine was never as high as yours, I think 7.1 was my all time high. But I do cheat from time to time. I think the numbers speak, 6.5 is am improvement!

Well I hope your numbers will be where you want them! And that's good that you have done the diet since you found out. That is good that your number was never as high as mine.....and cheating from time to time is much better than all the time! Thank you, yes 6.5 is definitely an improvement :)

Glad everything is looking better. Even with the cheat days you are doing better. Less of those will help.

Thank you, do hope that I can get the number under 6 by the time I go back to the doctor, but we'll see. Yes, less cheat days will help....but sometimes they help with sanity!
