Backyard Birds

Sprinkled a few sunflower seeds out on the deck this morning. I had to take the feeder away. When the bluebirds arrive they do not need other birds in their way. I am having a hard enough time getting the sparrows out of the yard.
Anyway, the cardinals were the first to arrive. This female cardinal really enjoyed eating alone. But when the male arrived she was gone. He is aggressive towards here and thinks he runs the show at the feeder.
I snapped a few of both of them. I will share more later. I love seeing the cardinals, as well as all the other birds in my backyard.
Any birds in your yard? Do you also enjoy nature and birdwatching?

Not much variety here: hummingbirds, Mourning doves, mockingbirds, small birds I don't know what they are.

@JohnRoberts Oh wow that is so cool. I did not know that. But it makes sense with your weather.

We have a lot of trees at the back of our house. They were planted about 25 years ago and have grown to be quite big. At first there was a lovely variety of small birds in them that were a joy to watch but then Magpies started to appear and all the other little birds left or were evicted. Now all we have is magpies. They are very aggressive birds

Trees are good. There are articles I have read about how to get rid of the magpies. Maybe you could try some of their suggestions. It is a shame to have them take over your yard.
Magpies can be real bullies at a backyard feeder. This is a guide about, "How can I get rid of the magpies, but keep the rest of the birds?".

I do. i have been noticing Southern States has 40 lbs of sunflower seeds for 14.99. I have been tempted to fill my feeders but then I would have to store the left over seed..and I think mice or something would get into it. I might fill my front feeder with a small amount of seed.

@CarolDM They probably have a website. it's a co op and I am sure you have somewhere in your location. I mean it is similar to Agway or Tractor Supply, but more expensive for most things.

I put out some seeds too. They are welcome in my world but really it is theirs not mine.

@CarolDM When you can watch them raising their young is fun. I had one just outside my window that would never shut up. :)

@mynameiskate Yes I love it. The bluebirds always visit and have two families, I photograph all of it.

Since I have many fruit trees I do not feed the birds that visit us.
