I'm putting a TL;DR (Too long : Didn't Read) for those who can't be bothered to read the whole things.. The TL;DR will be at the bottom When you go away for a week or even a weekend, you don't often have to worry about housework. You might tend to the dishes if you stay at a beach house or a cabin, but that and a little general cleaning is all that you really worry about. Well I'm not on vacation here, I'm pet-sitting which means different tasks than I am used to at home. For instance, the only things I have to feed at home are myself and my family, and we are a different type of animal altogether. Here there are two cats and three dogs that require petting, food, the toilet.. This also means litter duty (which I am not looking forward to after not having done it in years) Even so, I'd still call this a vacation. I only have to worry about my own dishes, i'm not constantly throwing things in the trash that stay lying around. I'm also out in a rural area, which is it's own reward. I also may be going to Old Salem next weekend, which will be it's own sort of fun and apprehension. I haven't been to Old Salem in 15 years. Old Salem, for those unawares, was an old Moravaian settlement founded in 1766. It is now a living museum of sorts. I'm not apprehensive for the trip itself but for who I am going with... TL;DR : Different chores, only have to clean up after myself and the animals. I'm going to Old Salem next weekend, it should be fun but I'm still nervous.

I've been to Old Salem several times but I've never "done" Old Salem...if that makes sense. One of these days...

The person I am going with wants to "Do Old Salem." I went several times in school. It seemed we were either going to Old Salem or Sci-works through elementary school. I fell once at Old Salem when I was a child, I skint my knee up pretty bad. Of course I was hurt but I wanted to be left alone, yet everyone fretted over me. I was always like that growing up, I wanted to tend to my injuries myself, or atleast calm myself down before everyone fretted over me. I am pretty sure I was a vicious kid that day and was grounded because all I wanted to do was to be left alone and tend to the injury myself. The last time I went was to go to God's Acre with a friend.

Old Salem sounds really cool. I know about Moravian cookies, and chicken pies. I want to make a Moravian chicken pie sometimes.

You know something I don't then, I didn't know about Moravian Chicken Pies. Do Tell! What goes in them?

Even though you're pet sitting it probably still feels like a vacation of sorts. Visiting Old Salem sounds like a fun adventure.

At home I have to do the laundry, the dishes, the bathrooms, the dusting.. .Well you get my point. Here, while I have to tidy up after the dogs and myself, it's a huge difference from tidying up after everyone else.
