Chimneys are embedded systems in the home that allow the release of smoke from the house. Chimneys usually have houses for heat source used wood-burning stove (solid fuel). Chimneys should be cleaned regularly, as they may cause fire or produce hazardous gases for life.

Here they visit every house with chimney once a year. There is a law about it. Unfortunately we never know when he is coming. He just shows up one day. If we are not home he leaves a note in the mailbox.

We have a chimney and the chimney sweep cleans it every year. It is compulsory. If you own a house with a chimney the chimney sweep must visit your house every year, in my country there is a law about it. It is paid through taxes, so we don't get a bill when he visits our house.

@mrki444 Yes, they just increase the taxes if we own a house with a chimney. There is no direct payment, and that is nice.

@Porcospino So if you don't have chimney you don't pay fee for it trough tax? That is fair.

Due to our weather conditions, we don't have chimneys and fire places in houses in India. Few old houses built by British in Northern part of the country might have them.
But I guess it must be a tedious job.

@arunima25 One time per year. Some people one time in two years but not rare. If you don't clean it at least one time in two year, it can be big danger in your home.

@mrki444 India is a tropical country and only the places near the himalayas and some hilly areas in the south gets cold like the temperate regions. I don't know how they used to keep their houses warm traditionally, but I guess they have now learnt the use of chimneys like Europeans.
