I am sure you have heard of the saying "There is a first for everything." North Charleston (South Carolina) firefighter Captain Paul Bryant who has 20 years of service with the fire department was called by a father and son who were riding their bicycles in an area where they heard a dog crying for help underneath some rubble.
Captain Bryant answered the call to rescue the puppy whose age was not revealed by using his experience to rescue the dog who was lucky he was not seriously injured.
After Bryant took the dog to the local animal shelter to see if the puppy was okay after its ordeal, Bryant was granted his dream of adopting the puppy he rescued by giving him the name Rocky.
I wonder if the name was due to the puppy being rescued after being trapped under the rubble?

Some animals have such luck as Rocky had. My eldest granddaughter rescued a kitten that was found in the street with every possible genetic problem. Popi survived thanks to Carolina and is now, after 4 years, a pampered cat very conscious of her worth. When I met Popi she looked more like an ugly mouse than a kitten. But Carolina kept on sending pictures of her kitty and slowly she became part of the family.

A lot cats that my relatives have adopted either came from cat dealers who needed to let their cats go from their homes or they have adopted from being in the streets to become part of our family.

@marguicha That is a good point you have there. Giving a pet a home to stay for a long time is a wonderful act of kindness.

That is true since many dogs are usually named for events that happen to them when they are young.

Some animals and people are luckier than others.

I guess some animals and people have guardian angels watching over them.

What a charming story. They sure look happy together too.
Maybe he did name the little guy after where he got rescued.
