Neighbors are important.

Our neighbors are important for us. In emergency, it is our neighbors, who come to our rescue first, relatives come thereafter. Therefore, I believe that we should have cordial relations with our neighbors. We luckily have very cooperative neighbors, who are ready to help, in case of need and its vice versa is also correct. What kind of neighbors you have and do you feel that they are nice and cooperative with you? Also, do you help them, when need arises? Picture courtesy - Google

You're so blessed to have such good neighbors! Our neighbors are strangers to us up to this time. They haven't mingled with us nor talk to us. They are new boarders in our place.

That is very true, although we have limited neighbors ( because our house is a corner lot), I was once served as street chairman in our place when I was in my 20s and I cannot over emphasize the importance, I saw to it that neighbors were always in good terms, we iron out problems before it got big.

@louievill Aww! That's so great, then. :) Keep that peace between your neighbors. Who knows, they'll really the one who will come first when emergencies arise!

@Strenj we have a street welcome party if there is someone new moving in so we got to know one another, we welcome new homeowners and even renters alike.

I used to live in the city and it's very sad that I don't recognize the people living beside our place, this is the reality in highly urbanized places. It's very different in the rural areas or suburbs when almost everyone knows each other and helps each other.

You mean to say that you do not know your neighbors and they also don't know you?

Hi @dpk262006 ! I'd say we are nice and cordial to each other, but mainly everyone seems to keep to themselves. The one lady who used to come knock on my door to give me the latest neighborhood gossip passed away almost a year and a half ago . . . she was actually the glue on our street - an aggressive but well meaning person - and probably the one we most interacted with.

Hi @much2say - I hope you are doing well. It is good to hear that you have nice neighbors, though in your area people love to keep to themselves. I am sorry to hear that the lady who used to share neighborhood stories with you, is no longer alive and you are deprived of some juicy and spicy neighborhood news.

Hope someone replaces her soon. Nice to know that you are doing fine. I am fine. I have been keep busy and I come to mylot off and on. Summer season has started here.

@dpk262006 Believe me, I don't mind being deprived of juicy, spicy news - I don't know if all of her words were accurate. But she was the watchdog of our street and she was quite active in the neighborhood - we do miss her caring nature and pride for our neighborhood. Yes, doing well - just busy as always. How have you been - I am thinking you must have been quite busy yourself too! Hope all is well out your way!

@RebeccasFarm I wish that they move away from you soon. The problem is we could shift to other place but we cannot ask our neighbors to shift places.

I have few good friends in my apartment complex. However when it comes to our next door neighbors, all the other three flats on my floor have tenants. So it's basically a moving temporary families. But luckily I have come across decent and friendly people in all these years of stay except for one time.

In Metro cities, in the apartment culture this is a problem that it is not feasible to maintain good relations with neighbors who are temporary and shift their abode frequently. All in all you have good experience as far as neighbours are concerned.

@arunima25 Hopefully, new occupant turn out to be good neighbors, as the previous ones. I agree that some of the neighbors are real gem and even if they start living at a different place, you like to keep in touch with them.

@dpk262006 Yesterday a new family has shifted in my adjacent house that was vacant for a month. I am yet to see them. I just heard their talk and all shifting stuff happening. I hope they are as good and friendly as the last family. We made good friends and are still in touch through WhatsApp.

WE always helped our neighbours when they're in need but we haven't experienced being helped by them, probably because we never had an emergency or a situation where we needed help.

It is good to hear that you are helpful to your neighbors. Understandably you have not faced any such emergency, where your neighbors could come forward to help you. Hopefully, they rise to the occasion, when need arises.

Yes, true. They are important to us in many ways. They are our key to break boredom at least to those parents who don't work and who have retired from their service. I like to make a congenial atmosphere to them as well. Of course I would extend my hands when they need any help.
