Black Tulip

My Queen of the Night tulip has bloomed and I am so excited! It is referred to as a black tulip but the color is actually a deep deep burgundy. It looks black in the sunlight. An all time favorite of mine.
This time of the year is very exciting. Every day I see something new starting to bud or bloom. It gives me a feeling of hope.
Sharing a photo of my tulip from my front garden I took earlier this morning. I wish it would bloom longer but I will enjoy every day just the same.

Do you have a special flower in your garden? Have you seen this tulip before?

@caroldm How Gothic looking is that!! Superb. The kind of flower a poor man would bring as a gift for the King’s fairest daughter when he sought her hand in marriage. She would accept but her father would have the pauper locked up to waste away in the castle tower and all he would be able to see from the tiny window would be fields of black tulips. I’m going to sell the rights to that little tale to Disney and get rich. You can have 15% for growing the flower that inspired me.

My tulips are in various stages of blooming. I planted them in a bad spot and some of them end up getting trampled before they get very far above the ground. This year they're looking pretty good.

@CarolDM They are planted in a spot that gets lots of sunshine this time of year. Once the trees finish leafing-out my yard really has no sunny spots.

My tulips haven't bloomed yet, but I'm looking forward to them.

This flower, in this color, I only saw with you and it's really beautiful. I'm waiting for my roses to flourish.
