Raining While The Sun Is out

It's been raining off and on here all morning. Along with the rain, it has been very windy. Right now the sun is trying to come out and it made me think of something my Mom used to say. I know we have probably all experienced it raining and the sun coming out at the same time. As a child, I was amazed that both could happen at the same time. My Mom used to always say that the devil was beating his wife. I believed her for a long time until I got older and knew better. Have you ever heard that phrase before? Did you grow up hearing something else?

sounds like something I have heard. plus a few other weird sayings.

like when it thunders the angels are bowling. and when it rains they are crying.

I've never heard the phrase before, but I grew up in Florida and it would rain all the time while the sun was shining.

Were supposed to get rain and thunderstorms later this afternoon into the evening. Right now it's Sunny and 66 degrees out. I'm gonna go enjoy it while it last.

Never heard that expression before! We were told as children the noise of thunder was the angels bowling.

I never heard that expression but it is amazing to see the sun while it's raining. We'll be getting rain later this afternoon but it's doubtful the sun will try to come out.

I've never heard that. I've seen it rain with the sun shining many times. It's an interesting phenomenon.

There's so many stories when it rains and the sun shines at the same time; old folks say there's an ongoing wedding among werehorses, or mythical creatures that lives in the forest.
