order of entering a car. What do you do first? we agreed that one of the first things we do is check the mirrors. (rearview and side) The next thing was different for all three of us: One of the twins starts the car The other twin puts on the seatbelt I tend to plug my phone in Then after starting the car we each did something different I tend to check the oil and gas level one twin plugs in their phone The other adjusts the radio What do you do first when you get into a car?

I do not drive, my husband first thing puts on the seat belt, then starts the car (without this you cannot check anything, oil or gas level). Then he puts away his phone so he is not tempted to use it.

@DocAndersen They suspend your driver license for 6 months if they get you driving and using your phone. Better to play safe.

@LadyDuck yes, it is illegal to hold your phone in Maryland while driving. Funny, it isn't in Virginia!

That is a good system to use.

First thing that I do when getting in a car is to ask, "where are we going today?" LOL

My son and I share a vehicle so the first thing I always do is adjust the seat forward. Then I put on my seat belt and adjust the mirrors if needed. If I have passengers I always check that they are wearing seat belts.
