Happy Palm Sunday!

We laid palm branches in our church this morning as a reminder of when Jesus rode a donkey on the way to Jerusalem and the people put down branches to soften his ride. It's sad, though, that many of these same people were the ones shouting, "Crucify him!! Crucify him!!" later in the week. They thought he should be a king who would end their Roman occupation, but he came to set them free from sin. The crowd believed they had him crucified, but Jesus laid down his life willingly for all who would trust and believe in him. Next Sunday we celebrate Easter and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He truly lives! This morning in church I sang "Remember Me" and in it are the lines, "Later on that very day, they laid Jesus in the grave. We all know the story, cause there he did not stay. I'd liked to have seen the look on the devil's face that day, when Jesus crashed the gates of hell, and he heard our Savior say, Hey, remember me, bet you thought you'd never see my face again. But I have conquered death, I have defeated all your sin, so take a good look. And remember me, cause I'll be back! Remember me." He really is coming back for those who love him and are looking for his return.

I seen a church yesterday that had a sign about Palm Sunday Services and I was trying to remember what Palm Sunday was. I remember growing up the church would give you like palm leafs and on Ash Wednesday they put ash on your forehead but I still can not remember why they do either of those.

We celebrate Palm Sunday because the people laid branches in the road Jesus was riding a donkey on while traveling to Jerusalem. Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent which is six weeks of repentance before Easter.

@1creekgirl Oh okay, palms make sense then but why ashes, do they symbolize something?

Celebrating the birth of Jesus is exciting, but his resurrection is so powerful and the very reason for our hope!

I appreciate that. I don't want to ever live without Jesus as my Lord.
